Serious Historical

I think I'm grasping at straws here, but it's worth a shot anyway.
What I'm looking for is a serious historical manga, in the sense that it's firmly based in reality (with as much leeway as, say, Emma or Vinland Saga allow themselves), and takes that level of accuracy and care in storytelling appropriately seriously as a result. I'd also prefer something non-Japanese in origin, if at all possible (other Asian countries are naturally acceptable), I get enough Japanese history in my classes at the moment.
Now, I believe I've pretty much exhausted the list of such titles long ago, and I have poked my head around the forum and other threads already in a failed attempt at finding something, so, naturally, the last resort is to post a thread and hope I missed one or two.
As always, it is appreciated.

Both already on the reading list.
Did I forget to add the "please check the lists" clause? Well, if I did, I'll add it here.
Thanks for the attempt though- same goes for any future posters who at least take the effort to make a recommendation, even if my lists aren't checked,

I do appreciate the effort, but fantasy really isn't conducive to my request.
Being set in a time period isn't enough, as I said, it has to be based in reality.

i didn't see the The Ravages of Time on your list, thats a pretty awesome historical series.
also i know you said you would prefer non-Japanese history related series, but Vagabond is a must if you're looking for historical series

I think the European History thread can help.
You might be interested in IKEDA Riyoko's works (esp. those without romance) if you are OK with old-school shoujo. It's easier to find them in Japan. I didn't recommend them to other threads since they are not scanlated.

@Zodac: Should have already been on the completed list. I have read it. Vagabond is also on one of my lists, but the original novel was so much better that I'm rather disenchanted with it.
EDIT: Wait... nevermind, I mixed up it with a similar Korean title. Thank you very much.
@base_coat: Read that thread in my search already- thanks though.
Admittedly Rose of Versailles and co aren't on my list, but I have watched the anime. I'll check the ones I haven't though- thanks!

@Crenshinibon : You live in Japan and/or read japanese ? try Aoike Yasuko's historical works. Her style is kinda similar to Ikeda Riyoko (especially in the 70s and 80s, though her drawing has become more masculine since 90s).

I think I really should recommend Under the Rose - Haru no Sanka since you mentioned that Emma counts and can find mangas in Japan. But this one is not the same mood or style of drama as Emma.

If I had a fantasy self, it'd be a tentacle monster.
