I love how cutting out the porn, doujins, and yaoi/yuri gets cuts the number of series to 25% of what it usually is. Is there a manga underground in Japan? Or do they just view that stuff differently than people do here?

Yeah, it's what you'd call cultural differences.

What they find as normal, we find to be very different.

In fact, ALOT of manga, you may notice, will contain some form of nudity or fan service.

Although alot of american comic books contain the same type of fan service, to a lesser degree.

Japan is just different, culterally speaking.
