yea most ppl sense it subconciously........

there was one programme on discovery where women were asked to smell and pick who they wud have sex with without seeing their body or face..........and most women ended up picking men with strong genotype or those with a good immune system........its a natural selection process....but some men/women are able to do it conciously......they are usually veeerrry picky.....anyways i am an engineering student so not so knowledgeable on biology but maybe some med ed stu. can clarify better 😀 😃

I think every human being has a scent- a smell that can be good for some people- and they smell differently depending on gender.I used to choose men based on their smell. I can smell women as well as men. But I can not smell everyone. For example, my previous guys would have a smell that I miss, and you can smell them from their clothes but my current guy has no smell. I am not talking about body odour or sweat.

I dont think this smell is something that is limited to after sex.

It's sweat. After sex I smell almost exactly like I do after a handball game.
There is a faint smell of precum too, semen itself has almost no smell.

Edit: You would ask. If it's sweat why isn't it bad? Simple, the smelly sweat comes from the armpit, nothing a good deodorant can't solve, sweat from other body parts actually smell good(my opinion)

That is the precum smell, it's very strong if you consider the amount needed to impregnate cloth, for days even if not washed.

I'm studying in the health sciences and from what I remember of my organic chemistry class with some anecdotes from physiology and biochemistry, I have to disagree.

There are some basic amines in semen to overcome the acidic environment in the vagina which could damage/kill sperm cells (the vagina is acidic as a physical barrier to microbial infection). I don't remember most of the compounds but the two that stick out were Spermidine ('cause the name comes from sperm) and Cadaverine. Cadaverine is particularly interesting because it is also found in rotting carcases (cadaver, corpse, etc.) produced from the tissue decomposition. 😮

You are correct. I learned that it's generally odourless except for what you've just mentioned... If it smells weird, I'm supposed to refer to a physician (if this is the patient's 1st infection or it occurs very frequently).
