To continiue my stream of thought...go to genre search...pick some good genre/s, seinen that is!, exclude hentai, yuri, yaoi, all other wierd genres and check the show only completed mangas...then order by rating when getting results...then you should have atleast some 50 good completed series (not in seinen though, maybe 10 or some more) which are long

I've done that already (suprise?). The thing is though, i can't exclude certaint genres and order by rating. If i order by rating then the genre search seems to reset itself, just showing all the series with ratings. Very anoying, anyone can tell me how to do this?

well then, lucky arent u rillel? usually the mod will lock this kind of thread but it look like stealh is giving a chance. anyway, i recommend Highschool of the Dead, Pastel, Gorio, Gacha Gacha, HEN, Addicted to Curry, and etc. well u just have a look at my list see which manga that u havent read yet.

everybody find its hard for the first time. i remember the first time i learn about manga on internet. i sit in front of my pc a whole day and everyday just to find a good manga. but worry you don't, rillel. it takes time but you'll will find it easy to lurk for it soon enough. it takes time. soon. you'll see, soon.... and may the manga be with you.

after you searched for genre and got the list. add this '&orderby=rating' to the url.
some series disappear from your list then because they don't have enough ratings. guess limit is 10 or 20..

i know it's tuff to find good horror.
i read some and tried to find the titles of it. but i dunno anymore what they are named. they're in my lists somewhere. you want bloody-horror or thriller-horror. ?
maybe try gyo for some fishy horror,
and there was one with spirals.

heat is building up...um....rillel....you said youve checked ppls lists and searched...and youve gotten recommendations from here...those series i gave you to read are totally atleast 50vols ,probably closer to 100, thats about 15000-20000 pages...and considering its been some 20hours you last posted here begging for more it is inprobable that you read all of them...but if you did i apologize...but anyway you could start reading them before asking for more...if youve searched like i said there should be no problem...and if you would use your brain, check ppls lists that are active members of this community...and my list are one to start with...i have 90+reading and 120 complete....

I have a question though: if there any way to search for manga by reading list? I've noticed that alot of manga that don't appear on list when order by rating or other ways to search have a high number on the reading list.
I'd be useful if you could search for the manga that are on most peoples reading list... That way you can actually see what other people read...

if i understand you correctly, than it is already been suggested in the suggestion-forum.
as for the moment, we just have to wait for the site update. there will be lots of new stuff as i understand it.

ah maybe you say something different than is suggested before.. sounds like an interesting idea; searching the lists would result in a list of members who read it+their rating. and one could enter their list with just another click. something like that ??

I'm just gonna add my say into this whole matter, sorry for the creator of this thread but I don't think I can recommend you any manga at this time, if I can I will edit this post and pm you

If you would all look at this thread, you would notice that most of the replies posted, are all off-topic posts that are going on and on about 'flaming', 'omg you dare' and I don't like this and that, I'd say leave that to the admins.

Also **I can understand that there's (perhaps) a need for a recommendation system **because else just anyone can ask for recommendations and chaos would be everywhere right?
Maybe, but this guy clearly did do some homework.
He's given us genre's, examples and his reading list.
If you suggest something, make sure the suggestion doesn't just match 1 genre, because that's just thinking half-heartedly.

If you don't want to flood his tread, think before you recommend and make sure that you're giving him a good recommendation, and that you're not wasting time.

And there are people that have read 200 series, and people that have read 50. Both people can run out of series matching their tastes. Because one has a larger interest than the other, or the other's genre has less series available than the other. I can completely understand that a yaoi and shoujo fan has much more manga's available than a shounen-seinen romance fan.
This is just an exaple, you get the idea

Since I don't want this post to be that off-topic, I recommend you Me and the devil blues. Is about a musician who sell his sould to the devil in order to gain his musical skills. It's a great manga, and (as I said before) is one I highly recommend.

I've been thinking for a while about this: If we have a wish list, why don't create a recommendation list?
Many people has been saying that an additional option is to search in a member's reading list, but I don't think the same way, since the fact that a manga is in your reading list doesn't mean that the manga is good, is only means that you are reading it, that's it.
Or another option could be create an "official recommendation thread" or something like that. (Should I put this in the "Suggestions & Bugs" section so an Administrator can read it?)

I think i should answer here bacause i flamed the guy pretty badly who asked before this guy when asking for recomondations.

 People have been suggesting a recommondation something to help people look for manga they haven't read yet. 

What i don't get is what the hell the ratings and reviews aren there for if not just that. You read a series, decide how much you like it and rate and comment it so that other people can decide if they want to read it. That is also what the genres are there for. Thats why people put in the effort to note if a series is fully scanslated. I admit it would be a good thing if you could sort search results by rating. ( yes, I'll pm Manick i think its a good idea )

If we open a recommondation list in which everybody gets to put in 5 mangas he thinks other people would like to read, we will just have a long list of many different manga who's only similarity is that somebody really liked em. Thats pretty fricking useless. If i want manga recommondations i don't need a 100 manga long uncommented list.

                So if you are looking for manga to read, following methods work:

1. Series Info, search by genre ( or combination ), exclude genres you know you don't like ( lolicon, horror, whatever ) , and then see whats highest rated or has the most appealing comments. There is no way in hell that you can do that without finding stuff you don't know and will probably like.

2. Really easy, take a mangaka you like and see what else he/she created.

3. Read some forum threads that are about telling your favorites. ( for example, funniest manga, best shojo, ... )

4. if you hang around the forums a bit you cen pretty soon see who might enjoy the same stuff you do, check his/her reading list.

5. browse reviews of titles you don't know. The fact that somebody put in the effort to make a review is a recommondation by itself.

6. When you are looking for something specific ( i repeat in large letters ) SPECIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( i would underline this and write it fat if i knew how ) go to the forum and ask for some tips. Example, i am looking for a manga which has a similiar atmosphere as Blame!, but with a happy end and lots of panty shots. Or does anybody know of a manga with a vampire cat? Get it?

What could a recommondation list do that we do not already have here?

maybe I or somebody else should right down tips to finding manga and get it pinned.

The problem is that most people rarely rate the manga they read, and less write a comment about it...

ok 🙂 , i felt a bit bad about it afterwards.

The problem is that most people rarely rate the manga they read, and less write a comment about it...

True for some manga, but i would say that there are enough votes to get a decent rating.
However, voting really isn't much work. In the list of mangas you read you can really quickly give each a vote.
