I'm really not a otaku for Japanese stuff D: Really, I'm taking Japanese classes and love some of their fashion, but I'm not that over. I don't like a lot of stuff there, and while I like some sashimi and love ichigo daifuku I'd never try on eating something just because it's Japanese.

I surely want to go to Japan as soon as possible, but just for buying clothes, manga and parapara/techpara DVDs. There are almost no countries I actually dislike, and altough Japan is not one of those, I'm not obsessive about it as well.

Maybe.
I'd like to go there first before I make blind assumptions.

i like animes and mangas, but i don't care where it comes from, as long as i like it

i think i'll also never visit japan, its simply too far away/expensive for me
there are many other countries where in my opinion its nicer, e.g. spain or italy just to mention few
but i don't want to talk bad about japan, as i have never been there

I guess I'm interested in Japan but I don't know how Japan life/culture really is. I have an interest not only because of anime, manga, or games but what we can read from a textbook or Wikipedia isn't enough to know about it. Not sure I would like to live there for a long time. Their daily life is supposed to be pretty tough and stressful.

I love everything about Japan! I plan on going to Japan in May this year with my family for about 2 weeks. We all can't wait to go! This'll be my first time overseas too, so I'm excited. =3

Yeah, I love it. I went to Tokyo in the Spring, and I'll visit Japan periodically for the rest of my life. It was totally Brave New World. I was astounded at how organized, efficient, technologically advanced, clean, and safe it was. I'm in NY, and I gotta say that Tokyo beats it hands down. The only things NY has on it are culture and diversity. The people were beyond polite and helpful. I was a bit surprised at how few people, even the kids, knew English. Customer service puts the waiters and waitresses at even the best NY restaurants to shame, and they don't even get tips there. I wasn't feeling the love for the food, though. I don't like Japanese food, so I was in trouble, considering even their non-Japanese food is really a Japanese version of it. When I went to Seoul in the Summer, the non-Korean food was authentic instead of a Korean version of it. I was also disappointed in how the kids were posers- dressed in a certain manner which didn't signify their inward personalities. With the Seoul kids, what you see is what you get. They also had about a half dozen or so styles that they all dressed in. They were more about the style- the bags made of leather were the same price as the bags made of canvas. It was all about the design instead of the material. The manga kissa were tight as all get out. The best looking ones were members only, though. The vending machines on every corner were outta control. They sold beer and cigarettes in them as well as hot and cold beverages. The toilets are insane. Not as insane as the bathtubs, though. I was in an ofuro every night- the best experience. The closest thing I've found in the states is the Hotel Kabuki in San Fran, which is nice, but no cigar to the full meal deal. The futons were unbelievably warm, and the tatami mats were a nice touch. The subway is beyond easy to navigate. Signs post adjacent stops, distance to the nearest line, time between stations, and schedules. The Seoul trains used the same type of subway cars minus the nice cushions. Nothing like the ratty MTA subway in NY, when the trains don't work and take forever on a good day. I can't speak, read, or write, but I would move there in a heartbeat if I could get a job there. My interest stems from anime and manga. Their bookstores were phenomenal- even the department store ones made the 4 storey Barnes & Noble in Union Square look like a bookshelf.

hmmm... do I like Japan or not?

well, I don't know. I never have been there and all the things that I have heard and read about it, have been based on other people's visions from Japan. but right now I am obsessed with their manga and am coming around almost every day to read those... so you can consider me interested in this country, or at least in their manga 😀
