You know those japanese/chinese/or korean movies that have this background music that sounds like a violin? for example the movie curse of the golden flower or jet li's movie hero. you know that type of music that is a bit sad and is usually played by a violin/cello and is sounds really ancient and deep? i hope you guys know what im talking about -_-

I'm not quite sure what your question ended up being, but maybe you're just looking for music played on an erhu, rather any particularly ancient music?

I wouldn't call that Japanese, though. When I think ancient music from there, I usually think of gagaku, which is most likely not what you want.
