I use the community on Netflix. For movies which I've seen, I read through the comments posted. If I find a comment that is very similar to my own reaction, I look through that user's other comments and see if there are more movies on which we coincide in thought. If there are, then I "friend" that user so that their comments and ratings show up in my community area. I've found 3 or 4 that I think have reasonable judgment that if they like it, I probably will too. Not perfect, but it's something.

I ask friends 🤣
If not, then, I just go and look at member reviews because I trust them more than actual critics.

You can read a full-length summary on IMBD. (Well... I think. Not sure about that.)

I read stuff from IMDb, watch the movie trailer/teaser & make decision...

That's my method. Netflix doesn't make you 'friend' anyone. It's up to you to decide if you like someone else's comments/choices enough to bother. =)

Hehehe, trailers can be SOOO misleading though.

Trailers only show what they want to be showed, to raise the appeal of the movie.
I've seen trailers made of nothing but kittens playing that would make people wanna go spend their money watching it.
I go with friends, or people that have similar tastes to me, but if that fails, i just watch what sounds good, and if it sucks, then it sucks, if not, good.

You can check wikipedia, type the name of the movie and it will give you the whole movie's summery.
(unless you want to be spoiled)
Trailers aren't usefull at all. They make movies look interesting... They even made Twilight look interesting.
You can ask friends with similar taste to yours. (be carefull, friends can sell you movies like Twilight).
But you know, you would the same amount of time doing all those things, if not more (reading summeries, friend asking and other stuff) than watching the movie.
So you can watch it. Nobody can tell better than you if you like it or not.
Also, I sometimes go through the movie, to check if it's nice or whatever.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

well, trailer can be misleading, that's why review & yr guts come to place
that said, I have to see how the movie look like by my own eyes before make final decision.
Use only one source is never a good idea

When I feel like watching movies, I'll check them out at imdb, wikipedia etc. Doesn't really matter if there's detailed description or not. I'm just trusting my instincts. When I choose the most of the movies are really good.
10% are amazing
25% are great
35% are good
20% are pretty good
5% are worth watching
5% are not worth watching
I'm just that good! Well anyways, you should just list all the ones you find interesting and then try them out. You'll quickly become better at choocing the good ones. It's not really that hard.
Far-off places with sweet sounding names.
Personally, I do see the trailers, an absolute must..and occassionally may read the full description at wiki or even a bit, then google for a logical review as imdb is lacking at times, esp for the movies I want to watch.. At times, people hate a movie that I absolutely fell in love with after watching ..for eg, I could never be your woman, granted its fast paced and sometimes corny and even too frisky at times, I still loved it...
I dunno... I can just tell.
I don't go to movies very often either, so unless something moves me, I won't be going.

You didn't like Twilight as well? Makes two of us 🤣
Friends can be misleading. Mine made me watch superbad. They kept on saying it's amazing and all this crap. I watch it. I'm like 😐 well THAT was a waste of time!
Take their advice with a pinch of salt XD
My method? Hmm...well, i'm sorta similar to Caliber. I don't usually watch movies. However, if something in my genre comes up, i'll go see it. For example, any type of movie to do with superheroes. I'm there, watching it, regardless of what anyone else thinks, because I want to judge for myself.

Three here. high five
And yes friends can be misleading. They told me to watch Borat, let's just say it was a waste of time, something I don't have much of to waste in crappy movies.
