I concur. They should have just mixed in fillers. Gintama fillers are always great. But I guess the animators need to have some time off too.

Not really a fan but I really enjoy Gintama anime. It's so funny. The humor is what I like the most.
I hope the coming anime will not lose the series' strong point.
There are several trailers for Gintama: Shinyaku Benizakura-hen (movie). They are trying to change Gintama into some normal blood-and-tears samurai show?? I don't know how real those trailers are but the battle scene in the end give me some bad feeling about this movie. 🤢

why would they change the anime?
the manga is just as it allways was
the Benizakura arc was rather violent to begin with
and other parts of the manga/anime have been rather violent
lots of deaths and lots of characters that get injuerd
[i have not seen the movie but it is most likely just the same as the first animated version with a few more scenes put in so that ppl would still go watch it/buy it]
like say the one piece Alabasta arc movie

Over half a year of only fillers is a very long time. Sure, they might have pulled it off somehow but the overall quality of the show would deteriorate and so would the humor. I think they made the right choice by holding it off.

Every filler-filled anime series should learn to to do this. seriously, i don't know about anime fans in japan, but it shouldn't hurt that much to wait, does it? plus, you can save up on budget from making fillers and actually make most of the canon episodes well animated, no?

Yep, Gintama rocks. And there will be the best arc ever in this season and I can't wait to see it animated. Besides Gintama I'll watch 2nd season of Kaiji and that's probably it. I don't want to waste my time on anything other than awesome anime.
