No, even some of my friends read manga.

I only have one friend that shares my interest in manga & anime (the person who introduced me to it) so yes I am sort of embarrassed to let my other friends know I read manga.

I don't quite consider myself an otaku though, although I may have been borderline in highschool, so I don't really consider it that big of an issue. Reading manga really isn't that different from casually reading a novel every once in a while; at least that is my opinion on it. Of course if no one brings the subject up I wouldn't ever divulge it myself.

people should do what they want to do rather than what other people want them to do so why should anybody be embarrassed there are far worse hobbies out there than reading manga and if a person does not like you because you read manga then would you really call that a friend

I'll admit that I am, because not that many of my friends read manga. A lot of them hate anime and manga in general.

it all depends on the friend i mean my "Normal" friends know im weird but ve told a few of them and they get annoyed by it cuz i compare our conversations to them sometmes >.< I CANT RESIST but dont name your falshdrive a character in your favorite manga cuz then you give t to your teacher for a project and they ask what it means T.T so embarrasing to explain especially when you have an image unfortunatly given to you..... but then there are frends that are also into manga and i would definitly tell my fellow otaku friends heheh... :3

if its shonen i think 150/14 is avg speed i.e 150*20=3000.....if shojo i'd say that's awesome 6000 pages (40/chapter on avg).......i completed hajime no ippo (till it is scantalated 904 chapters) in 3 days 😀

but when i sit down with my engineering book every chapter takes eternity 🤣 🤣

well as far as telling ur frnds goes they saw me and were all amazed at the unique storylines of anime/manga....some of them even got addicted to anime through me(poor souls) ......and bug me for more 🙁

Hmm not really a straight answer for this one... my two best friends and I discuss anime and manga quite a bit, a few others know about it and think its weird, but they're okay with it. But no I do not declare to the world that I read manga for a multitude of reasons.

I was first kind of embarrassed to say that I'm addicted to mangas.

But it's a very big part of me, because I read a lot (as you can see in my reading an complete lists). I even found my ex boyfriend thanks to those mangas (after an irl) 🤣 ! I met great friends and all. I also know old friends reading manga, my flatmate too etc. I just CAN'T be embarrassed anymore I guess. x) However it still is strange sometimes to say it.

I'll say like daisy237 that my friends know I'm a bit weird so they aren't surprised whatever I can tell them 🤨
