Really? why are this polls always so constrained and un-specific?
I could answer for example:
Work of art: It ought to be beautiful
Potion/Weapon: it ought to be practical
Clothes: it ought to be both
Then one could go for efficient or unpractical but powerful (like a bomb), or cheap, and so on.

This poll is poorly thought-out, imo. Things that are valued for their form (artwork, songs, party clothes, etc.) should be beautiful. Things whose purpose is functional (electronic devices, tools, work clothes, etc.) should be practical.
Not gonna vote on this one.

Form ALWAYS trumps function. That's the entire history of sales and marketing in a nutshell. No one's going to use something, no matter HOW functional it is, if the form of it isn't appealing or practical to the buyer or user.

No one would buy something that doesn't function. Function is ALWAYS most important. That doesn't mean aesthetics aren't useful in outselling the next guy, but without function nothing is useful. I'll buy the prettier object in the prettier box any day, but if it doesn't work I want my money back.

Yes, they do. It's called planned obsolescence. And, they do it with everything, from your car to your cell phone to fucking video games.

My car, cell phone, and video games don't function? What? I went to the store yesterday, called my mom today, and played a 20 year old game last month. All possible due to items that functioned when I bought them. No one would buy something that doesn't function. 🙄

Generally function. I would say that the one thing that people really value form over function for (I’m not counting something like art, since the function of art is making an impression with its form) is clothing. I could go on and on about women’s clothing. The lack of pockets, or the pants having faux pockets or tiny pockets that you can’t even fit a phone in, is most heinous. Then we have shoes that impede walking, and jackets that look pretty but are totally dysfunctional for keeping one warm. I suppose one could argue that these items are designed to fulfill a secondary purpose of attracting men, but imagine the personality of a man who begrudges pockets. WE DON’T WANT HIM

@Transdude1996 The oldest cars aren't really allowed on roads (though ones from, say, the 50's are usable), and very old cell phones don't quite work everywhere, given the networks/bands it connects to may no longer be used
...but to claim that old video games are unplayable, is beyond idiotic.

Only a fraction of the Satellaview games are even in a playable format. Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst is unplayable. The freemium editions The Suffering, Psi-Ops, and Area 51 are unplayable. Battlefield 2142 is unplayable. MAG is unplayable. And, those are the first few examples to come to mind that were released before the past decade.
Sure, you can mod or find a workaround for most of them so that you can play them, however when does that reach the point that it becomes an unreasonable demand?

@Transdude1996 So what you're saying, is that old ONLINE video games are unplayable? (also note that most games that are affected by this, are not video games, but rather computer games)
That's largely true, but very obviously not anywhere close to what "old video games are unplayable" means.
Hence, that's clearly not a serious answer.
