Like discriminating sexuality, religions, appearance, gender, poverty, ethnicity etc. Even if we have opinions, there's something called euphemism. 😃 People overuse heavy pejoratives to disgrace each other... kinda hurts. 😢

Because they're idiots who think highly of themselves.

It's the human way of life. As humans, we are selfish. It's our nature to want to be superior and therefore, it's our nature to be prejudiced. What contributes to our prejudices is the environment we live in or are raised in. Say, you've been raised since birth to follow the scripture because your family loves stuffing it down your throat. Well, you end up believing and putting your life into the scripture to the point that anything else sounds ridiculous to you. It's too different. And what humans also seem to be scared of is change.

It's natural though. You do it too.

I actually don't think it's as much nature as our environment. Like there are some small tribal groups in Africa and south America that still live the life of nomads but yet does not discriminate at all. In fact, psychologists find that discrimination within their groups is significantly lower on an average even, than our supposed "Civilized" first world countries. I don't know what else it is besides getting education and reading more.....

because humans being the shallow creatures that they are like to feel superior and yet like to feel like they belong so by making other humans out of the circle by discriminating them they make themselves feel much more superior.. thats my theory anyway.. 😮

In "our society", we have it easy.

In the middle ages, you got burnt at the stake for having red hair.
150 years ago, nobody thought the phrase "Make me a sammich" could ever be considered ironic.
Early rock in the 50's was called "an abomination sent by the negros to destroy our values".
The political corectness bullshit is recent, and has managed to go to the other extreme, where actual "roma" people want to be called gypsies, since that is what they call themselves.

So, no, everything is better actually.

It could have been intentional... but maybe I shouldn't give him/her/it too much credit.

It might be true that there's still a lot of problematic discrimination in our society, but as HeavennevaeH noted, a century or two ago, it was a lot worse...or even as early as 50 years ago...or even 30. We're slowly moving forward, but I think it's easy to assume today's society is so bad because, on the internet, you can say whatever you want. But (at least in my country) outright discrimination/intolerance, especially by the government or employers, is just not allowed.

I live in a very diverse society and we have zero tolerance in discrimination. Any sort of discrimination can lead to a huge fine to pay.

well people discriminate other people when they dont even know of it, or when they are doing it. for example, you and a couple of friends are a group, there comes a new guy around so when he trys to be asociated with the group, they are pushed away.

that example happens very much in school for example, and there is millions of reason of discrimination, and there is for example against skin color or cultur, nothing that you can acctually do something about it than trying yourself being a better person.

but remember there is always nice people who dont discriminate. 🙂

Because ppl still don't know well their own human nature. Their fear from their own features which they don't know or don't admit cause them to hate the different people. Only ppl which are in peace with themselves could truly respect and accept the different from them persons.

Good country!!!! thumbs us

Also I'm agree the possible change causes fear. This may be natural but I'm sure human mind is supposed to control the insticts and all primary emotions. It is the second, higher power. We are supposed to take control, that is our destiny and that is what separated us from the animals. And that control includes control over ourselves and our primary features. In short - we should re-create ourselves, for good.
