Never gone, kind of want to.. But my desire to go has nothing to do with manga, anime, or any of those fields.

I haven't visited another country for many years, but I sincerely would like to go; just need to take a few Japanese classes first.

I've wanted to visit Japan for a while now, way before I got interested in manga and anime. But now that I am into manga when I have the chance to go I'll definitely buy tons of manga. And though I do want to learn Japanese, I don't think its really necessary to learn it just for a visit

never been there before
i would love to go there for educational purposes(there is this particular university im interested in)
but leaving that aside, there are other countries im much more interested in than japan
so i guess im more interested in manga(and japanese literature) than the country itself

I would love to visit sometime during my life, not even for the manga and anime. I like being a tourist, so it's definitely something I want to do one day.

I think I need to learn a bit of basic Japanese first though, just to make the visit a tad bit simpler... XD

I'd love to visit Japan, not just for the manga but because through manga & dorama I've become very interested in the whole culture. I know a little of the language and would like to think that once there I'd pick it up pretty fast...the main issue is money, not just cost of airfare etc. but also lost wages from missing work. I could probably manage to afford a visit there for myself, but not for myself plus three kids. 😔

The poll doesn't totally apply to me. I lived there for 2 1/2 odd years, so I don't think that quite qualifies as a "visit." haha.

It was excellent in many ways, and awful in many others. Like any other country around the world, there are ups and downs to life there, and certainly being a foreigner will always cause unique complications. Nothing's perfect, after all. I certainly wouldn't trade the experience for another, though.

I'm sure I'll be back eventually.

I've never visited, and I don't really want to. Maybe visit the countryside if anything, but I think I'd rather kill myself then go to Tokyo. I get claustrophobic just thinking about all those people in one place. (I'm not the biggest fan of crowds)

Wow, only one person that's spent any time there so far?

Anyway, I spent 2 months in Japan last summer (summer '10) working as Kyoto University's first undergraduate "intern". It was a very enriching experience and I got to practice my (still poor) Japanese quite a bit!

Interesting results so far. I was not really expecting to see that (though it may change by the time the poll will change).

I pretty much agree with Crenshinibon though. I just visited though. It was different than what i expected and i couldn't really say "i loved it" but most definitely not "i was disappointed", if anything i'd say it was positive experience and i'm looking forward to already planned visit next summer 😀 ( just hope the heat won't kill me ^^')

Never been, wouldn't mind visiting.
Hear there're maid cafes there. I never say no to seeing a dirty fantasy. ;p

One of my new passions is "getting to see the world" before I die. So Japan is definitely on the list. It's just that I prefer to be able to communicate when in a foreign country. While my knowledge of English could be very useful, I want to learn some Japanese first ^.^ Just on a "survivor level" though.

Been before, it's a nice place, would like to go again 😛 Anime Figure shop I went to was cool and people don't speak much English so it would be best to learn some Japanese before you go 🤣
