I'm completely confused especially with the newest chapter.

they say that she's is his most beloved person? I thought he loved the other girl...her name escapes me, but I'm sure everyone knows who i'm on about.

newest chapter as in chapter 212?? does the scanlation out yet? or are you reading the raw?
i haven't read chapter 212 yet, but from what i've read so far, i say yuuko is in love with watanuki and vice versa... their romance is like the real story hidden behind the title..

I read it in chinese, but yes it is 212. I always thought of him having respect for her and the love is more of a platonic type.

Just in case, I put it in a spoiler

Doesn't really surprise me. he took over the shop so that he could see her again. which basically cause him to be unable to leave the shop. When he decided to be the shopkeeper, I pretty much figured that Yuuko was the most important person to him. But you know just because Yuuko is his most beloved, doesnt actually have to mean romantic love. It could just mean the person he loves the most...because if you remember Watanuki used his memories to pay for a wish granted, so he has no memory of his past and the only people he has are Yuuko, Mokona, Doumeki, Himawari, Moro and Maro. So it could possibly just mean the out of those listed, Yuuko is the one he loves the most.

that is because yuuko hide her feeling. and from how i see, and read, and predict the future of, the story, it's a must for her to do so. while watanuki just realize his feeling at the middle to near end of th story..

If Youko is Watanuki true love I wouldn't be surprise. I mean Watanuki seems to be some kind of reincarnation of Clow and knowing how the later didn't want her to die so far as making the shop....

Are we really surprised that he loves her? He payed the price of staying in the same place forever to see her again. But I agree with aikoaiko. I'm not ready to say he loves her anymore than as a woman who essentially gave meaning to his existence.

It could be a romantic love, I'm not ruling that out, this is clamp after all. But honestly, I hope that dream Yuuko can make Watanuki let go, it's too much of a burden to carry, I think. Apparently these are the last few chapters though, so I guess we'll find out soon.

You mean Himawari? If you read it closely

it said that Himawari was married, which both surprises, and somewhat baffles me, considering her bad luck streak and the only thing not affected is the bird. Maybe it turned out her hubby is immune to her bad luck? Sorry, kind of went on a tangent, anyways, near the beginning, it does show he's kind of obsessed with her, to the point of him yelling at Doumeki, however, it seemed to be more of an unrequited love (even more so now that she's married, and added to the fact that her "curse of bad luck" really affected him), so he probably let that unrequited love go, probably.

I don't know if it's really romantic love, but he obviously cares for her, however, I kind of agree with shaggievara, maybe Yuuko will get him to close the shop, and this may be where Doumeki's egg comes in (it's gotta be used at some point, right 😕 ?).

Um Hi guys I just finished the last of the chapters of XXXHolic and well I'm not all that confused I think that Yuko is like his very precious mentor or like a very close friend that he can love in a sense that he respects are and that she understands him. Also I was very intruged about Himawari getting married and they didn't even like you know make it a big deal. I mean she just called in one chapter and Watanuki is all like "Oh, I'm glad you husband liked it." I'm like O_O WHAT 😕 !!! !@$@^#&$ HUH! But anyways I think that Watanuki still loves Himawari but I don't think it's that kinda love anymore it's more of a I love my friend kinda way [at least that's what i think] Also I think his newest love interest is that Kohane girl. I mean just the look in his eyes when he looks at her. [shrugs oh maybe it's just me.
Tell me what you guys think please comment!

thank you
PB

After reading the last chapter I think that by the end of the dream, it had already been a long time and he was talking to doumeki's grandson. Kind of depressing cause that would mean most of the cast would be really old or dead by now, leaving watauki all alone.

GREAT grandson!
Ending's pretty depressing...but I guess there's still "hope" since it's kinda open.
It's left up to the reader whether he finally reunites with Yuuko or not, I guess.
