Its a Yaoi manga that was set in feudal japan. It involved an ex policeman/swordsman who became an (art or calligraphy) teacher who has a scar and a policeman. I know the teacher goes back to being a police officer to infiltrate a gang for some time and is later saved by the police officer.

There is a secong one about a police officer (still in feudal japan) and a craftsman who did hair ornaments for women and geishas..

ch2 - Lost in the Darkness Before Dawn (Gyou An ni Mayou) is the one where the ex-policeman (Tatsumi) is now a teacher; the other guy (Kagura) has the scar and both got roped into helping the police do a sting operation on some bandits.

ch4 -The Night He Escaped Death (Shi ni Zokonai no Yoru) is the prequel to ch2, set when Tatsumi was still a policeman and Kagura made hair ornaments.

ch5 - Sleepless Night is a bonus to The Night He Escaped Death.
