The co-creator Dan Harmon is an outspoken fan of incest porn. That is where Space Beth, giant incest baby Naruto and so on came from. The incest will continue until morale improves.
The other co-creator, the alleged violent rapist, is a fan of shock humor and Rick and Morty is based on a... pornographic short that was made to piss off Universal Pictures. I won't even get into the Cosby Show origins of Rick and Morty. The show was cursed from the start and future historians will fail to understand how it even became mainstream. It´s still good. Sometimes even great.

Edit: Forgot to add that the other co-creator is proven to be attracted to underage girls in case the other stuff fails to stick in court. The later seasons aren´t really "his" but Harmon is still in the writer's room. He undeniably convinced a bunch of other writers to play to his many fetishes.

A real-world "clone" of yourself would just be philosophically equivalent to an identical twin (it would have its own life, just the same genetics) and only a lunatic would say that's masturbation. A carbon copy of yourself made on the spot would be a little more interesting but ultimately it's still just gay incest and people who say otherwise are more likely than not in the closet

I think there's more than one way to answer this. Technically or experientially.

Technically it would make a difference whether you are having sexy times with a clone, or a time traveller, or yourself from a parallel universe.

But the physical (+ emotional) experience would not necessarily differ in all of those situations.

If there are 2 (or more) physical bodies involved, they'd be experiencing different sensations caused by their interactions with each other. That rules out masturbation. IMO.
