Why is "Status in Japan" now "Foreign Status"?

I remember a few weeks ago that "Foreign Status" use to be "Status in Japan". I looked for a thread as to why the change was made but I don't see any, so now I'm wondering why the change was made.

I recall the site operates under the idea of "manga only counts if it was created in Japan" (I don't know where the exact link is on this site). But was "Foreign Status" trying to include places like China and Europe that might be publishing and releasing at different rates? Was it trying to include manwha? But then a person could just look up that info in their country instead of looking to this site for that info.

If "Foreign Status" would be just Japan's status of the manga (or even China's), it would sort of assume that you're viewing the site from a North America's view, or on the other half of the world. I suppose I'm getting too policallly correct here with the word "foreign" but I feel the matter needs to be addressed. ^^;

Well I don't know where you got how the site operates but we've always listed manwha and that isn't created in Japan. Foreign status would mostly be Japanese manga, then Korean manwha, and everything else (there's at least one American manga here).

Honestly, we're pretty lax about what we allow. We're primarily a manga site, but we accept other works.. Unless you can think of a better way to name that column, "Foreign status" was the best I could come up with. 😐

Why not just name it status? Seeing as how we have an American manga (or two) listed here... and that's not foreign.

Because that confuses people ... they see "Completed" and think .. oh, that means it's completely scanlated by some group & released... I know that we have the completely scanlated column now, but seriously, people don't read things. They'll glance at that and we'll get a million questions about it. It used to be just "Status" before.. but I changed it to "Status in Japan" and then to "Foreign Status" to clarify it.

haha! I have seen a problem.

             Foreign country varies by standpoint. So in my case it means, nor germany. HOWEVER!!!! For other people this means very different places? What if a samurai or ninja comes by and thinks you are lying to him? He might kill you all!!!!!
                    If something is not done quickly, this site will be ruined due to unprecise language!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about volumes published then in the list they can state the country.
Then it would include those licensed outside of the country's origin.
Example:
Japan: X volumes (ongoing)
US: X volumes

that was a good idea....but then you'd have to have volumes published in every country if your going with that name.

I took the easy route and took barbapapa's suggestion. I'll consider other ideas in this topic when I get some time. Thanks guys!
