It's not really a recruitment... but rather, some suggestion for translators to learn Japanese better.

I was going over someone's translation application the other day, and realized that the person has pretty good basic understanding of Japanese, but still missing some stuff, which wouldn't happen if he were using Japanese in his daily life. I can't blame him since he probably has no chance to use Japanese in his daily life, but I was thinking how he could improve. Of course, translate more and more would help him a lot, but if no one else correct his Japanese, there's no way he could improve just by translating. Also, I do think while translating some manga titles is good to improve the language skill, but it is somewhat not well-balanced in the category. (Sorry, I can't explain it well... I hope someone understand what I mean and re-explain it )

So here is what I propose:
Join Mixi and start writing diaries in Japanese.

Mixi is a Japanese SNS, very much like LiveJournal. It might be hard for you if you don't usually keep journals, or maybe writing in Japanese is hard, period. But if you continue little by little every day, even if it's only one sentence, you'll learn something.

What do you think?

If you are not in Mixi yet, I can send you invitations (you can join it by invitation only), or someone else who's already in it can invite you. If you are already in Mixi, you can join this community I made for Manga translators, so you may find some translators that you never met before:

http://mixi.jp/view_community.pl?id=1739306

I'm planning to propose this in some other places, too. The more people we get, the more motivated you'll be in writing journals/diaries in Japanese, so hopefully you guys will join :]

ps. Some suggestion: When you write diary in Japanese, maybe it's good idea to write English translation of it, since sometimes I really have no idea what the person is trying to say when someone writes Japanese because of grammatical error and stuff... +_+

If you want to join Mixi, please give me an email at oceanizer@gmail.com, with title "Mixi Invitation." Basic Japanese reading skill is required to navigate in the Mixi.
