You can see the flag to the left of the picture. Does this mean that "Berserk" is played out near Sweden? 😕
This frame is taken out of episode 15 as Griffith is about to go out to war against the Doldrey Castle.

Think it more have to do with the part that the cross in the flag "symbolises christianity" to add to a more medieval atmosphere... or something.

Maybe true, but that's not the only reason I may believe it's a swedish flag. Germany which is close to Sweden (just below) had once a knight called Götz (a similar name to Guts, right?) who led a band of mercenary soldiers.
This knight's right arm got struck by a cannon fire in a battlefield (in Berserk Guts lost his left arm) and Götz arm was later on replaced with an iron prosthetic hand. Guts' replaced arm has an magnet so that he can lift his sword and get a real grip on it unlike Götz's arm. Talk about similar history.

Therefore I believe that the country Miura calls "Midland" may be a large bit of what today is Europe.
This is of course a farfetched idea.It is of course easier to just say that the flag is meant to show christianity. 😀
It's just that I have it hard to believe that you draw in a flag to show christianity. Normally people would just make a cross, right?

I'm also from Sweden 😀 Otherwise I never would have reacted to it I think. I don't know if it really is a well-known country in the world. But I think it would be awesome to know if maybe "Berserk" is played out near Sweden. The more info, the better. 🙂

Nothing is a coincidence I guess. Miura must have thought well through this series. So this maybe proves my farfetched idea right. 😛
Well, of course it is still Miura's series so he's the one with all the info, but it isn't like he'll yell them all out.
