Instant superpower that coming out of nowhere just because they are the "chosen" one. Usually they are like whispering from the god , the universe, pervert teacher, parent's ghost, grandma's ghost, pet's ghost(sorry, whoever feel offense this is just an example) or whatever they like and the next thing , he kick his opponent ass.

Super quick training, take just a few days or weeks just to get hella strong while in real life, we struggle to study hard every single day or go to gym to get perfect shape.

Man, i wish i had instant power cup, just put boiling water and then wait for a few minutes. BAM you can kick ass now.

worst cliche for me is evil guy that is not evil. He is the bad guy does all kind of evil things then bam he is not evil just misunderstood 🤢 I hate that. Other than that I'm fine with most cliches 😀

"I might have lost both arms broken all my ribs and punktured my lungs.. BUT I CAN STILL FIGHT!!" Some shounen protagoninst can survive the most incredible things and still have enough power til defeat the villan. xD

How about when the main protaganist or one of his abundant sidekicks yells out their crappy goal. Like MY DREAM IS TO BE The BEST ARTIST IN THE WORLD!!!!! and their love interest or friends look at them with admiration instead of thinking they're an idiot.

on a side note. Hoshi no Samidare kicks ten kinds of ass. (thats a lot of ass)

Thanks for sharing the link!

I think cliches aren't that bad at all. It's just how they're sometimes executed that makes them look crap. Random moments of "originality" just for the sake of being different are crap too.

GTO has plenty of cliches but it's still badass as hell.

My most hated shonen cliche is the protagonist's dream which he'll "go through hell to get" when there's really a much easier (not to mention less retarded) way of getting it. Then it's just the stupid logic which makes little to no sense at all. It doesn't take geniuses to find more fitting solutions to the many situations in shonen stories. Is it that hard to make someone nearly as levelheaded as Kyon?

I dropped bleach after a few "got my head shoved up my ass" moments which Ichigo pretty much always gets whenever he fights a new bad guy.

Worst Shounen Cliche

Protagonist gets beaten down
Flashbacks to an inspiring moment in his life when someone says inspiring things to him
War Cry (Uuooooh!!! or Uaaaaah!)
Enemy is shocked at the recovery
Protagonist gets stronger... somehow.
Enemy gets beaten down
Protagonist faints

Lead girls in skirts eventually gets their skirts flipped... by wind or by man or by a tree branch or by other.

Big breasts will eventually be fondled/touched by close girl friend or accidentally by protagonist in a hotspring scenario.(refer to point 4)

There will be a hot spring(or bathtub) scenario in the manga/anime. Regardless of what place, country, era, world, dimension or Universe the manga/anime takes place in. Breast touching also happens here (refer to point 3).

second this.
and it always happen in uhuk kamijyo akimine's manga. uhuk such as ur ava manga.
the main protagonist wanted to destroy the main evil but then actually the main evil just pretend to be evil or misunderstood for being evil, and then actually the main protagonist and the main evil have a strong bond and promise or actually a good friend T______T

I'm sure it's not only in Shonen manga, but the protagonist has the chance to kill the antagonist, but then pauses because he's either a pacifist-non-killer, is shocked by antogonists words, starts talking, etc. It then gives the antagonist a chance to recover and the protagonist is then wounded and the fight continues. 😐
Or they become friends or something. So annoying. 😔

Maybe not all, but in almost every shounen I've read, whenever the main character goes through a big fight or gets seriously injured he sleeps for EXACTLY 3 days.

I really can't understand some guys here.
I mean, it's SHOUNEN manga. It's not supposed be mature. That's why we have some cliches, even though there are a lot of annoying ones...

But look:

--- Weak girl (maybe childhood friend) is always beating the hero --> This is supposed to be funny!
--- Hero does not kill. --> The audience is usually between the age of 10 to 18, so the hero MUST be some kind of a role model.
--- Here is powered up by the need to protect something --> AGAIN, this is supposed to show the audience that the hero is a good guy and that you can learn something with him.
--- etc.

I'm not saying that i like these cliches.
It's just that some guys here keep complaning about crap and don't realize that this is the "SOUL" of a shounen manga and that the main difference between a good and a bad shounen is that a good shounen can use all of the cliches in the world and we won't care about it.
