First question: What are you following? What are you planning to follow? What job are you studying for?
First time in college, started out "undeclared" and ended up majoring in History with a minor in English.

Second time in college, Accounting.

Second question: What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision? sad I just can't see myself doing the same thing 20+ years...
First time, the history & English classes were what I enjoyed most - didn't really have a plan. After graduation I worked as a clerical temporary, and then analyzing oil samples & as an inventory control clerk (same company, the job was half & half).

Second time, because I wanted a job that would pay decently so I could support my kids & myself. After two years & a 4.0 GPA I still couldn't get an accounting job, so that didn't work out too well. roll eyes Currently working part time as a secretary, and it's working out fine.

As far as doing the same thing for 20+ years...can't even imagine it! Most jobs have some degree of changeability, though, so even if you're in the "same" job you might not really be *doing* the same thing.

Doc, IMO you should've had your career path set back in March.

First question: What are you following? What are you planning to follow? What job are you studying for?
Applied Physics Dual Degree Engineering.
I'm going to go into Energy research and optimization upon graduating.

Second question: What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision?
Why do I need motivation to better myself? Right now I'd say I'm moving on pure instinct and determination.

I'm entering my first year of Pharmacy. I've only taken one year of university so I've not really explored as others --- I entered with Pre-pharmacy as a major (you can't graduate with it... the title was just for scholarship applications and formalites). Currently I'm interested in hospital pharmacy and pharmacology --- research and development. I'm not nearly as interested in community pharmacy (pharmacists at the local drug store/pharmacy/apothecary).

What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision?

I'm simply interested in the subject. As a child I had always been sickly and as a result always wondered how on earth pills, syrups, sprays, etc. affected the body. I have little motivation beyond an interests...

Although most people think that I'm too young to start thinking about something like this, I already know what I'm going to be! A mangaka! I draw day in and day out, and watch anime and read manga for structural details that I'm missing (and because I want to!). And in my sophomore year I'm going to do apprentice work for my 8th grade art teacher. And yes, I have put way too much thought into this. XD

What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision?

Its simple! I <3 to draw! My parents are kind of losers when it comes to inspiration since they never answer any of my questions about careers. And they just settled for whatever was easiest. T_Tv I made up my mind early so that I don't end up like them. XD

I'm not too sure how this would help you, but just choose a career that involves something you love! :3

Ahh I'm having this problem now as well. I need to choose a Uni course so I can apply for next year.

I haven't got a fricken clue. I mean, ok I like art...but where is that going to get me? It's so difficult to find a decent job with art -___-

I am maybe thinking of teaching in primary...but I'm unsure. I'm doing some work experience to see whether I should go into it or not.

As for motivation...pfff..I have none. I lost it a while ago. Maybe when I realise what i'm going for at uni, it might inspire me to work hard.

As of now, I just want the work to stop dead

Well, i am a genius and i don't care much about my career after i graduated highschool, just fantasize it would be something awesome.

Just kidding, seriously smile

Then i decided it in, like 1 or 2 seconds, i will become a physicist, due to my achievement. My father told me something like, kids nowadays are full of themselves, thinking they would be able to change the world through theoretic researches but reality does not work like that and i should be able to afford my own living expense after graduating and physicists won't earn good income as engineers in the beginning, etc etc( he only said this in the context of me and my friends, though ).
Subsequently :
1. I am following a vague path that can change any time, temporarily engineering, particularly (and temporarily ) electrical and nano tech, plus abstract algebra at the moment. My aim is both engineer and physicist, "interchangeable" laugh
2. Motivation ? being popular with girls perhaps, keep me from boredom probably, and most likely, i feel like being someone special and important (a bit superiority complex). My life-altering decision is changed from time to time, because this world is always moving.

Ah, we are sort of similar. I am getting interested in energy research too because a goddamn theoretical problem about renewable energy took me half of my time in a recent contest. And just 2 days ago a German Mathematician gave me a lecture about "natural optimization and evolutionary algorithm" which cracked me up when his program was slower than me in solving a rubik's cube. laugh

Yeah.. I'm sorta as undecisive as you guys are, too..
But "What am I following?" I'm following my heart. X] I'm planning to do something that I like, and can make decent money. (: Oh, and it has to be "easy", too. xP
I have an interest in:
1) Arts/Music [but I'm not decent enough to be earning a living off of it; besides, pay isn't enough for both imo],
2) Sciences [again, not decent enough - too dumb. Plus I don't even know which kind of Sciences.. And it seems hard, too; need to think too much],
3) Teaching [iunno, teachers make bad pay, and can get fired easily - the "newer" ones :/] Wanna combine this with volunteering in a foreign country, in like Africa or something. ^^ Like helping out needy people.
4) Doctor [..seems too hard. Don't know which kind either] Also wanna go volunteer in Africa 8D
5) Languages. I wanna learn all sorts of languages.. But can I handle it? @@.

^ See? Such differing choices.. Don't know what I should do. sad
I still have time, though, I guess.
But I definitely want to go volunteering somewhere in between.

What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision?
I want to make big money. $__$ ~
So I can help my parents, you know? They always seem to be suffering financially..
I want them [and me] to live good lives in the future. ^w^

Trying to choose what to do next can be a hard choice, but I will give you some advice. As long as whatever you do is worthwhile and you work hard it isn't a waste of time nor a wrong choice. You will probably change career paths about six or more times in your lifetime so don't stress too much. Try to choose something you are interested in or have a passion for.

What path are you following?
I'm currently in my second year of my Bachelor of Design majoring in graphic design, but I'm also doing an elective in Advertising.

What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision?
I still wonder what I'm going to do with my like after I finish University. I could have done almost anything I wanted. My state rank was in the top 6% and I loved scince, english, history etc. But I choose to do a design course because I'm creatively inclined and it has reasonable job prospects. I'm pretty sure I will wind up doing something totally different but in the mean time I'm work towards something worthwhile and that I'm interested in. There isn't much else I can do.

I just finished highschool as well. A few years ago, I had my mind set on anything art-related, but over the past year and a half I've narrowed it down to Animation. I applied for two colleges that teach Animation courses, and have recieved an offer from one of them already
I can't see myself doing anything but Animation at this stage. I wouldn't give any other course the time of day. I hope to maybe study it for three years (depending on which college I go to), and maybe try getting a job in a studio after. I'll be working on my portfolio and own little projects as well.
My future hope is to create my own animated feature and shorts, and also dabble in live-action as well. I'll be creating comics along the side as well.

What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision?
Animation, and art in general is my primary love in life. Its what I do best and enjoy most. I could never be an office worker, scientist, teacher or politican.
I've drawn since I was a child, and I consider myself above average talent at my age. All my friends know me for my art, and they'd be suprised themselves if I went for anything that wasn't art-related.

What are you following? What are you planning to follow? What job are you studying for?

Difficult questions. I'm an international affairs major with virtually no idea what kind of job I actually want to have. I think I would like to work somewhere in publishing or journalism, but because I have a total lack of certainty I decided to pick one of the more practical degrees offered in a globalized economy and work from there.

I would also like to write a novel eventually, but I don't believe that I quite have the talent, as of yet, to be able to rely on such things financially. i.e., I need a day job, though I have had some mild success in terms of writing qualifications.

Second question: What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision? sad I just can't see myself doing the same thing 20+ years...

First off, don't rush yourself. People change careers all the time, it's perfectly normal not to know what you want to do for the rest of your life- you have, after all, a long time to manage it. I have some respect for the people that do, but there's absolutely no reason to lock yourself into a specific path, keep your options open and find something that you enjoy- in the long run, that's a lot more valuable than just picking a career for the money. Just make sure that you can be financially stable while doing so, you don't want to kill yourself because of a little uncertainty.

What I do know is that I like literature, I enjoy writing, and I also enjoy living here in Japan. I just have to find a career that allows me to work with all three... I have some things that I'm working on, but we'll see.

I've never once had a problem with motivation. It's the world which gets in my way mad My intention was to become a dancer, but my health fell.

First question: What are you following? What are you planning to follow? What job are you studying for?
Hard to answer as I can't pursue an education right now, but I'm very interested in medicine. I'd like to become a doctor. Right now, writing is a more practical occupation (little money and what I get to write isn't always fascinating, but I still love it).

Second question: What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision? I just can't see myself doing the same thing 20+ years...
What's beautiful is that you don't have to do the same thing all your life; circumstances change, people change. Some jobs are very dynamic, and there is always the chance to go back and try something new.

My motivation is a personality trait: I throw myself into whatever I like with both feet forward (I'm told that a lot by concerned friends and relations). I just get really passionate about things. I'm the "I alter my life for it" type.

Wow, everyone graduated from high school this year (same!)

What are you following? What are you planning to follow? What job are you studying for?

Well, actually I'm planning to become a Japanese major, yet it doesn't have to do with translating manga (so my friends thought). Specifically, it has to do with Japanese history and culture. So my job would just have to do with me talking about that, whether it be a tour guide or a public service guru. I just need a job where I can talk to people of different backgrounds and learn from that. My first semester schedule is all Japan related smile

Second question: What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision? I just can't see myself doing the same thing 20+ years...

The fact that I took a Japanese history class in a university in my city for my senior year brought out my motivation to learn. My professor's love of the subject made me want to follow in his footsteps. Also, the fact of meeting new people motivates me to become that as well. You know, if you have the same job for the next twenty years, it better be one you wont get tired of doing. Anyways jobs aren't always the same as some people have pointed out.

First question: What are you following? What are you planning to follow? What job are you studying for?
Police Officer/Customs/Sheriff. Either or CSIS intelligence (CDA Government) or Lawyer.
Associates Degree of Criminology (Major) to my Bcs. in a different university.

Second question: What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision?
I've always wanted to pursue a life of justice, and also to make the streets a little safer. I've wanted to work for the government for a long time because of the benefits my family will receive once I have one of my own. Also by working for the government your pension is secured and it's quite awesome.

If I had any other choice...
Working internationally for the government in some sort of way. I want to travel outside of North America, hopefully to do some work in Europe.

Edit: In my Asc. degree, there is a humanities portion which includes introduction to Japanese, so I'm planning on taking that and hopefully once I've finished my Bcs. I'll major in Japanese afterwords (:

What are you planning to follow?
I am planning to become a screenwriter/director or just a comic writer.
What's your motivation to put your all for such a life-altering decision?
I love watching movies and I have looked up to the best of film makers like David Lynch,Alejandro Jodorowsky,LLyod Kaufman(please click on my sig to spread a great message) and also John Carpetner. These film makers make me love movies and I want to do the same to others. To be a comic writer I have been developing one with my brother and we are thinking about actually start writing. The people that has inspired me to write comics is also the director Alejandro Jodorowsky, Alan Moore, Warren Ellis and also Garth Ennis. I also wanted to pursue these ideals because of the freedom that both film makers and comic writers make. I am never in it for the movie I am in it for the fun.

Edit: I also forgot to say that I haven't left high school but, I am in college though some different program.
