Who here Tried reading Gakidan , It's basicly some hard core man loving , But the men don't look like girls in this one .. They got some freakin huge muscles . The ART is Amazing ! I should rather know that because i am kinda learning anime art my-self .

who writes it and where can i find it? though from the sounds of it it might not be yaoi, but "bara"; written primarily for gay men. bara has a distinctly different feel to it, even beyond the hugely muscled guys.

for example Gonin Beya Shinsouban by Jiraiya (scanlated by obsession) is bara, and Boltsick by Kanou Ryouki. is Gakidan similar to those?

shrug. different people have different preferences. me, i don't like very skinny boys (such as minami haruka's characters where even the seme look like prepubescent girls), and i especially dislike girly shota (CJ michalski). and the amazingly beautiful ethereal ones (such as yamane ayano's fei long) are nice eye candy, but i don't find them particularly erotic either; i just want to gaze at them raptly. still, bara generally isn't my style; they're overly muscled. it'd be nice to actually see the occasional slightly chubby character in yaoi; i find the extreme fat phobia distasteful, even in pure fantasy.

i like kano shiuko's men, for example. they're not girly, but they're not competing in body building competitions either; they're athletic.

but i can still talk sensibly about erotica that features characters that are not my personal ideal.

That's why I like NAONO Bohra so much. Besides the fact that her men actually resemble MEN with real bodies, she takes the typical yaoi stereotypes and turns them on their heads. Kano Shiuko's men are great as well. I liked Boltsick, but found Gonin Beya grossly juvenile and plotless.

I'm not familiar with Gakidan, but I think I can get the gist of the thread. (tried looking it up, but not in wiki and a general search didn't immediately yield anything) I try to be open-minded with all body types, and I don't mind slender guys or pretty boys, but extremely skinny guys like HONJOU Rie's freak me out. It would be like holding a bunch of unbending matchsticks. I do like her storylines, though.

What's strange to me isn't just the aversion to extreme fat, the general failure to even depict sidekicks with "normal" body types, unless that's normal for Japan?
