Manga as a Project

I am a student participating in the National History Day project of America. This year's theme is "Innovations in History." My friend and I believe manga is a great innovation in history as art, writing and reading, and to further prove our point request to gather any and all opinions of manga as an innovation in history. If someone could help us find with getting this question to manga authors it would benefit us greatly. Thank you.

Isn't it aimed at AMERICAN innovations? Cause that's what it seems like.
And actually, you can probably scratch manga as art. It is but in the art world it is usually pooped on. But, the story lines in manga tend to be very creative.

Yeah, I'm sure your right about it being American Innovations, but they haven't exactly denied other country histories. As long as we learn and it reaches the requirements it's qualified. The fact that it is a Japanese topic makes it harder to get through competitions, and that's why I'm trying to gather many quotes and opinions for our exhibit.

I guess you should probably start out with how manga came to be... why did the Japanese start manga... what was the bases for that which has become manga?
Start there and see what you come up with.

I have in fact gotten a lot of information about that along with a timeline and fun facts. Here I'm trying to get quotes and opinions because that tends to be a rather hard part of the project especially when you are like me and don't exactly know where to start with that.
