Leah~ :/ I hate it. NO ONE pronounces it correctly. No. One. I am Lee-uh, not Lee. Two syllables.

I pronounced it correctly! (before you even said "no one can pronounce it") I like that name!!! There's a singer named Leah.. goes to check oops, it's Lea. Don't hate it just because no one could pronounce it 😢

🙂 Thank you. Oh, no. That's not why I hate it. It's just that not many people are fond of their own name, I suppose (though the constantly mispronunciation definitely plays a part). I'm extremely glad that it's not common or anything. I'd hate to have gone through school constantly being referred to as Leah R. I always felt bad for all the Ashleys and Joshes in my school.

It really baffles me that people find it so hard to pronounce. The thing I always dreaded about starting a new school year was the fact that I'd have to correct teachers the entire day whenever they would mispronounce my name.

Oh.... maybe Lea is pronounced "Lee"?

Actually, I've always heard Ashley is a common name, but I've only met one Ashley in my life. But I've met a dozen Christopher's and Stephanie's. My name is uncommon too... which is a good thing (kind of), so I'm also not saying it.

I thought Lea/Leah was common, I know three of them and they all pronounce it as Lay-uh. Maybe it depends where you're from. I have a close friend whose nickname is Liah and we pronounce it as Lee-uh. lol so many variations.

Yea, people have hard time pronouncing my name too. Never been to a Starbucks where they spelled it right either. But I like it that way. 😀 I have tons of fake nicknames because of it.

According to behindthename Leah & Lea are both pronounced how I pronounce my name. However, I've seen many people pronounce Lea as Lee. I guess those are the same people that completely ignore the second half of my name and only say the first syllable as though the 'ah' sound is silent or something.

UGH. That's the worst. Only once has someone pronounced it like that. It makes me think of Princess Leia from Star Wars. It's a completely different spelling.

Yeah me too, I have an "h" in my name, and some French people seem to ignore my H (although it's a common English name)

I also hate how some people pronounce the "th" with "ffff" So when they say my name, it's "ff" and it's wrong!!!! (ex. the # 3 is free, and it's not!)

You mean they can't guess by the way it's spelled? I thought it obvious.

In Germany it's common (without an "h"), and they pronounce it, well, indeed like Leia 😛 Every country has its own way to pronounce certain words and letters.
