I doubt its going to get dropped at least for another 6 months.It seems that the series is steadily building up a fanbase for itself in Japan and has been steady with the manga sales.If all goes as it is now I would expect at least a hundred or more chapters.Double arts was without a doubt popular over the internet but back at the "homebase" signs were already sprouting up that the series was floundering for survival.When you're in WSJ a golden rule to remember is to NEVER slack off within your first year,which is the exact opposite of what Double Arts did.Hey the first arc was great....but it slowed down a little after that and got the axe.

Yes we have to look for the popularity in japan not over here.
I said so in MH, but volume 1 of Nurarihyon was released not long ago and it was 9th in sells. in the top ten ! In japan ! For a first volume that's incredible.

Not to mention the usual TOC in shonen jump where it's always at a good place, sometime laging only one place or two behing Naruto.
This manga is definitevely doing good. And (I am sorry if I offend fans) it probably has more potential than double arts imo. I loved DA, but the "can't separate" thing was too restrictive, and well, it's not necessarily the kind of stuff that Japanese would go for.Not to mention, DA is not in the "winning kind". Nurarihyon shares lot's of similarities with the most popular Shonen. So yeah, in that aspect DA was more original. But well it wasn't a good thing this time.

With Nura's popularity the mangaka will probably be free to continue for as long as he wants, if the manga remains as popular.
Wich is a niceachievement, considering he isn't known for anything else before that manga.

But the series is semi-popular no?
It's not as big as Naruto or Bleach but the fanbase is building gradually.

It's really really really popular ^^. It's just here, in the english comunity that it isn't really popular yet.

But still, even in here it's already popular. Lately there wasn't much scanlation. But it was ranked 8th on baka-update not long ago. You can rest assured. It will NOT be cancelled by the jump excs 🙂 . If it is cancelled, it's just because the mangaka wants to do something else. Wich shouldn't happen since he does more pages for each chapter in comparaison to the other manga (between 19 and 25), wich should prove his zeal. Besides, I don't know how mangakas get their share of money from the manga, but if a manga is doing that good, he isn't likely to let it go.

it would really suck if Nurarihyon got dropped like Double Arts... i was really pissed when that happened

Double Arts sucked... seriously. What the heck did you see on that thing? Thank god it was, at least, very short. Unlike other sucky stuff like One Piece.

Please do not compare Nura to that mediocre stuff. If you are looking for a real comparition, Mx0 would be closer to it.

Anyways ... as somebody previously stated, it's all about how elevens see the series. And it's hard to believe that a new-comer so promising as this one is going to get "the axe" anytime soon. The only other case I can remember of a "super" newcomer is Kenichi's mangaka, and what I mean is that this guy Atari'd it on his first work and, then again, Kenichi is serialized on Sunday, not Wedesday, which is not "as good" (on a 'respect' standard). Oh, and by "super newcomer" I mean somebody that, on his first work, reaches the top of a magazine.

Sorry, but that's a personal gripe of mine and you made me angry by hating on one of my favorite manga (OP) on a thread that has nothing to do with it. I like Nurarihyon no Mago too but no need to hate on other manga.

Anyway, Nurarihyon no Mago will be fine. Jump only cares about popularity, not quality, and Nura seems to be doing well on both fronts.

Good manga and i hope that some day in future they will be anime version !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😃

So far so good. Looks like it's becoming a popular series, and the plot is picking up really well right now.

A year passed by and still on going. Still think it will be dropped?

No. Next week it gets color and a "important announcement". So, no.
