I've just come across this just recently and i think i know some things that keep me reading new series but do you 😕
well for me its action but if it doesn't have any action it has to have good romance (but i hardly ever like shoujo romance) otherwise its really hard to get into it or i just can't read it at all

I guess my reason is the same as yours. I really don't know. I just read if I can keep reading. If it can't hold my attention I stop reading. :-) But I like pretty much any manga I read. Lol

For me it's the characters...
If there's enough depth to them I can read pretty much everything.

I really don't know. sometimes they're interesting enough to follow. Sometimes I quit reading, just to find it's a great manga later when theres more chapters released.

For me, it depends on the flow of the story with sense of substance.

If the story is good, then I'll go continue to read.
If the story is crap and/or no sense of direction, then I'll drop the series im reading.

Bakuman is the only series that I seriously dropped because of lack of story substance.
At first few chapters, I really love it, as the story goes on, it mainly focus on a girl who wants to marry the aspiring mangaka. At that point, I don't feel to read it anymore.

I had been read so many manga that I can easily dropped without any notice and then can't remember the series.

The second factor is the art, If the art is good along with the story, I'll continue to read it.
There are some manga I've read that is mismatched with its story. I found it very weird for me. 🙂
