I don't know how things work with releases, but how come highschool of the dead stopped updating I tend to take this into account for future references, so if there are more than one reasons for why mangas will stop updating before it's fully scanned, please could you share that too?

The question you should be asking is "Why does something get scanlated?"

The answer is "because someone/some people has/have the time, energy, motivation, skills and resources to scanlate it." If no one does, then it doesn't get scanlated.

It's not like the scanlators decide to hit this switch that says "turn off automatic scanlating machine".
