This week's poll was suggested by F_J. If you could travel back through time, how far back would you go? What things would you want to change or witness?

You can submit poll ideas here: https://www.mangaupdates.com/topic/kilkdnn/site-manga-poll-suggestions

Previous Poll Results:

Question: Do you prefer reading weekly chapters when they drop or binging on full volumes / seasons?

Choices:

  • Weekly chapters - votes: 429 (22.2%)
  • Full volumes - votes: 783 (40.5%)
  • Just whenever I have time to read anything - votes: 672 (34.7%)
  • Other - votes: 51 (2.6%)

There were 1935 total votes. The poll ended: September 20, 2025

Time is precious. Is reading the best way to spend it?

Hmm...if it was a short-term trip back in time like a visit, probably some historic events or just some era I am curious about. Not really to change anything though, just to watch.

If I was there to stay in my own body from that time, probably right after I was accepted into college so I wouldn't have to bother with high school subjects and could just do a better job selecting my classes and changing some ... decisions.

If I couldn't go to my own existing body and it was long-term, then I would probably rather not since not having a clear identity makes it pretty difficult and unsafe.

No option to jump forward?

I'm more interested in how Detective Conan ends than reshaping history. lol

Back to childhood... i do have certain things i regret starting from high school days... so wouldn't mind a regression to redo it.

Definitely do not want to go too tar back... because medicine in the past was not good...

i either wouldn't travel back since there's chance nothing will change no matter what I do. If I could it would be start of university, there are somethings I want to do differently. But that was less then 5 years ago.... so not long ago

It really depends... is this temporary or permanent? Is this in my own past body like a regression, my current body, or am I possessing someone else?

I picked "back to my childhood" but that's only assuming it's a straightforward regression, not the adult!me and child!me both existing at the same time kind of time travel shenanigans.

Knowing things I know now that I didn't back then, I'd be better able to prepare for the future and the hardships to come even if in all likelihood I'd be powerless to prevent most of them.

I'd also be able to more efficiently and realistically set things up for myself to provide a safety net before my health deteriorates instead of wasting my life with unrealistic false hope.

If it's anything aside from regression though, I'm not really interested, especially times before my lifetime since the farther I go back, the more likely I could accidentally change some small thing that snowballs further down the line into massive changes in the future, that's way too much responsibility with all those unknown variables.

I'm honestly more interested in seeing the future than the past. Like even if I could go to some historical moment I'm interested in. I'm not sure what the point would be if I didn't understand anything.

Also I'm also not a guy, so like would I get in trouble for showing my legs or something?

And then there is the going back before humanity existed thing. Like would I just die if I said I wanted to see the big bang?

The biggest question for me is if you can go back or not

Like if you can go back, I'm seeing the unverifiable truth of history, what colors all the dinosaurs are, what the missing links of human evolution are and how the newer subspecies took root.

Hell, I'd see the universe in its infancy, before there was a planet capable of supporting life (hopefully my time machine would come with a pod to support that).

But if you can't go back... especially if going back to your childhood places you in your child body with your current memories instead of just as a bystander of your own childhood with paradoxes and universal branching in play (ie you shouldn't be able to change your own future if you don't merge with your child body).... Yeah, that's a no brainer. Start over as someone with knowledge of the future? Someone who already graduated from MIT? There are advanced mathematicians I'll never surpass even by starting over but the advantage of foresight is huge
