I honestly don't get what's the deal with manga and anime's obsession with little sisters. Anyway, whenever the "imouto" character appears in a story, you can be sure she'll be lusting after her older brother (and sometimes viceversa), or at least she will want him only for her and be jealous of any other female being approaching him. It was weirdely funny the first ten times, but now it has become quite annoying for me.

In other words, to balance things out, I'm looking for any shounen or seinen manga (completely scanalated or actively scanalated) in which the main character has a younger sister who doesn't bear any kind of romantic interest or obsession over him, not even as a joke. So far I've been able to find like a couple of manga satisfiyng this criteria, which is something to think about, really.

TL;DR I'm searching for manga (shounen/seinen) where MC has a little sister that doesn't go after him.

Thank you for your patience and have a nice day!

Even Mikan has occasionally shown ambiguous feelings towards her brother

Genshiken counts (part 2 sucks and is a cash-grab so continued with Spotted Flower) and comments on the phenomenon. Also 87 Clockers where he has 3 sisters and Baby Steps where i remember one i think.

Sensei no Kaban (i read it in german) is Jiro´s best manga btw. if anyone cares and Koi Kaze wins the incet race as is it is straight out about the topic with NO punches pulled.

The reason for the lack of normal imouto in shounen manga is the same as to why many shounen manga didn't have parents character: they'll only became unimportant background character, and most author didn't have time for that. You see, mainly, little sister character is used for:

1. as trauma/object to be protected/drama/plot advancement device. Now, this role is usually taken by MC's friend and love interest, saving the author from having to draw another character, or
2. as a part of character design, usually only used in shoujo/BL manga to increase male love interest charm/moe point.

Leaving imouto character in in shounen to mainly one purpose: comedy/ecchi.

I see your reasoning and I agree, but still why use this kind of character at all, then. Why just not add another unrelated female character for the fanservice and the romcom? And I'm sure there would be a lot of comedy opportunities between normal siblings as well. It's worth noting that this incestuous vibe is more common between older brother - younger sister, while all the other combinations rarely exploit the same trope.

Japan likes taboos. That's all there is to it. laugh

Chokotto Sister - not a biological sister, but... It's such a lovely series.

I should have posted this from the beginning:
Quote
It is accepted, by the Japanese, that Japan was "procreated" by the union of heaven & earth. The union birthed two gods, Izanagi & Izanami, who wed each other & mated to create the country of Japan & human life there. So, basically, Japan exists because of incest. Sex in Japan is viewed as a celebration of the beginning of life. It is supposed to be happy and loving. There is also a Japanese legend that states that star-crossed lovers are sometimes reborn as siblings.

Japan already has one of the world's lowest birth rates. Its population of 126 million, which has been shrinking for the past decade, is projected to plunge a further one-third by 2060. Aoyama believes the country is experiencing "a flight from human intimacy" ? and it's partly the government's fault.

If your country also becomes as sexually repressed as japan is now and start´s to work it´s society to death (no strikes ever!) then you will also know what sort of fiction will rise in popularity as you don´t have to leave your house to flirt up your sister.
It´s the lazy man´s dream roll .

Ugh Chokotto Sister....

I think there definitely romance in there. Actually, it seemed like it was going that way then the author pussied out.
