Since Christmas is coming up and present fever is abounding , I was wondering what are you're opinions on presents. Are homemade gifts cheap or time valuable? Are storebought gifts better than homemade?Things like that.
Note:This can apply to any sort of present not just Christmas.
I don't know if there has been a thread like this if so just point me to it and I'll inform a mod.

Is it too late to comment on this? lol
I feel that handmade items are more memorable and meaningful rather than store-bought items which are bound to disinterest a person sometime in their life. I always keep the handmade items friends and family made for me. Not only are they made with love, but each hold a special memory to go with it. Memories are forever. ♥

i've never received nor given a handmade present before. me and my family aren't really good at/into crafts and those types of things, so i would prefer store-bought.

Well, I didn't have any money for Christmas gifts this year and I had some left over art supplies so I used them to paint pictures. If I had money I definitely would've bought presents instead.

We don't give presents for Christmas...
Giving presents originally wasn't even part of Christmas in the first place.
I'm Dutch, so we give presents on Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas' day).

I prefer not to give or receive presents on Christmas or any other special occasions. If I see something that I think someone would like, I might buy it for them, but I don't want to be pressured into either buying or making something they wouldn't actually want. I also would prefer to receive no gifts than to receive gifts I don't want.

I don't care either way, as long as you really know the other person and know what they like I think it doesn't matter if the gift if hand made or bought at a store.
I always though store bought was great... until i made gingerbread cookies for my best friend and he love it! so yea homemade! ^_^

But if it makes you happy to win on the internet, have at it.

Agree with you, Christmas is long gone, but i wanted to said this. I think is more about getting something you know he/she wants. Most people would be happy as long as they get something, so they won't tell you if they don't like it, knowing the person and getting something they always wanted is the best answer for me (home-made or bought)

I mostly prefer books and games as presents, so that leaves almost no room for handmade presents. I would be happy to receive one, but am not the type to make presents myself.
