Well obviously I wouldn't hang on to someone after a break-up, or once I felt they were no longer interested in me! That's just masochistic. o_o I'd rather find someone new of my own as well, by letting them go and letting myself move on.

I would NEVER let someone go if I wasn't already prepared to move on myself. Lol, sounds like a contradiction, but it's not; I just don't think it's healthy to hang on to feelings for someone you can't have. So if I let go of someone, I by necessity move on myself.
