Tetsuya Saruwatari is ending his Tough manga in this year's 34th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine next Thursday. ANN has confirmed that Saruwatari made the announcement in the author's note of the 33rd issue this Thursday.

The story centers on a young man named Kiichi "Kiibo" Miyazawa, whose father trains him in the family's secret martial art style. Kiibo faces off against many fighters on his quest to become a master without using the fighting style's deadly techniques.

The original Koko Tekken-den TOUGH action series serialized in the magazine from 1993 to 2003, and Saruwatari relaunched the manga as Tough in summer 2003. The new series' 39th and final volume will ship in Japan on August 17. The story inspired the Shootfighter Tekken original video anime in 2004.
