Anime Remake

I've always wondered what would happen if they remade some of my favorite animes from previous eras. Would they be better or worse? Would they edit them even more, or stick to the original Japanese versions like they tend to nowadays? You tell me what you think: which ones would you like to see, and would you watch them?

If they remade the Robotech series, especially the Macross Saga, I would definitely watch it.
I also think a remake of Sailor Moon would be awesome. I'd prefer it have less filler, and a more condensed plot.

If I could get a full length anime of Battle Angel Alita, I would definitely watch it. The OAV from the 1990s didn't go far into the story at all, which made me very disappointed. Now that the series (the prequel at least) has been over for a while, the company wouldn't need to put in any fillers and I'll finally get to see the middle and end parts of the series in full, animated glory. I would kind of miss the '90s look of animation, but I bet Production I.G would do a great job.
It really depends if they'll stay true to the manga and if the anime art is satisfactory.

Some remakes can be excellent, even proving to be improvements, others are pale imitations. There are examples of both that already exist.
For instance, I've watched the episodes released so far of the Rebuild of Evangelion, and while it's pretty well handled, it really does make me appreciated the flawed brilliance of the original.
On the other hand, while the first Ghost in the Shell movie was a classic that I loved, I think I may have enjoyed the more recent Stand Alone Complex series even more.
Finally, the one anime I'm really looking forward to is the new Berserk production. The first series was an excellent adaption, but I'm thrilled by the idea of perhaps seeing the story told in full.
