I just remembered this manga/anime after seeing a glimpse of the Gan Kon manga which has a similar character near the end. It has a huge muscular android like man that serves as a portal and transportation by taking them inside his body by opening up like a box. In this manga however he shows up throughout at unexpected times and if I remember correctly was the servant of the female lead. He also hints he has homosexual interests in the male lead. This was also made into an anime. I forgot he also has a moustache like General Armstrong in fullmetal alchemist.
