Either way, I do use a few applications, but altogether it doesn't look as chaotic as yours. Well, it's decent enough I suppose.

Whoa, yours look totally awesome, it's cleaner and totally better than mine : )
I like my desktop to look cluttered and busy so i always try to put as many apps as possible XD;;

Well, a month or so ago I was messing around with my visual styles. I'm running XP and can't be bothered getting a visualizer app so I'm quite limited to skins. I managed to vista-fy it though =D
I just changed themes though.

OMG, I love that Miku rainmeter skin. She reacts depending on CPU usage. Very cute.
Oh yeah, and a customized Rainlendar skin here too =D
