well so far, for me, mu is something like a place where some people hang out.. i'm not really sure if they all hang out here...

MU is just a database where releases are aggregated. The chapters themselves are done by individual groups who may or may not even use or know of this website, but the majority of releases are recorded by bots, scanlators and users. At least, I think there's still an IRC bot crawling for new chapters...

There was never an IRC bot crawling for new releases, at least not in the way you're thinking. All releases have been added and approved by humans
