is this the last season? if so, i might cry heavy tears of sadness.
Most probably the last season.... according to Crenshinibon, who seems to know a lot about this kinda stuff.
I'd be okay with this being the final season.... wouldn't want the Hollywood "Milk it for all it's worth" formula to be used here.

Really?.... IMO, the second season ain't as pukka as the first.
Remember "Lost".... I was like, "Whoa" the first season and then, "This is never gonna end, is it" by the time the second season ended....
They could always succeed in Battlestar Galactica fashion with Geass, but the fag character designs and Yaoi ending sequence would probably kill me by then.... Heh

Yeah the first season of Code Geass was better imo, however I still like this one as for Kaguya? She never Knew who Zero was did she? She Knew Lulu from a young age but only that old guy knew about Lulu since he had to reveal his face to him in the first season in order to get their full support [The Episode where C.C is revealed to Ougi and the others, aside from Kallen who had met her when she picked up Zero after Suzaku went mental cos of CC]

I've heard rumors that it will end with season 2, nothing confirmed that I have seen, but then I haven't been looking very hard.
It is confirmed to end with season 2. Okouchi (the head writer) has explicitly said so on multiple occasions, in addition to saying that he has already finalized the script for the ending. I have way too much free time -_-;;.
EDIT: I feel like mentioning this because I was reading an interview with Taniguchi. Apparently, Season 2 isn't at all the way he wanted it to be (mostly due to the primetime timeslot shift) in addition to a few other factors. He originally planned to continue everything directly from the shootout in 25.
At least we got Anya as a result? 😀 .

Yeah, I figured it was something like that.... Still remember the School Rumble-esque "RESET" vibes I got at the beginning of R2.... but I must say the recent few eps have somewhat restored Geass to its former glory.

Well, the last few eps were pretty clearly planned from the beginning (although bombing Tokyo they day after the anniversary of Nagasaki was a very nice touch). Taniguchi's been saying since season one that Lelouch would "learn about betrayal" and that Suzaku's "live!" command would cause him to do something so terrible that it would make him want to die, but be unable to. But yeah, they have been much better lately. I actually wish Rolo had been more thoroughly developed, he could've been an amazingly deep, conflicted character had they dealt more with his struggle to be a human rather than just a tool, but instead they reduced him to one incredibly awesome scene, a murder, and some yaoi fanservice [/bored, sidetracked rant].
EDIT: Updated with TURN 20's summary/updated speculation.
-Suzaku gets the monolouge, he's finally snapped and lost sight of his goals. He declares to Nina that "she killed them" and that "with this we can give Britannia victory." Basically, he's suffering from the same thing Lelouch was before Rolo sacrificed himself.
-Ragnarok begins, and Marianne activates the Geass she apparently used on Anya. Her ability is evidently to store her consciousness in others (and she received her geass from CC).
-Marianne (in Anya's body) retrieves CC from the World of C. CC answers that she doesn't know why she refused to die. It looks like the memory loss was a plot device to make the mysteries last longer -_-;;.
-Apparently, Marianne has always been on Charles' side, although she greatly worries about Lelouch.
-Together they leave the ship
-GEASS SYMBOL + PENGUINS!!!111!!eleven (sorry).
-Ougi abandons Zero entirely.
-Schneizel says that he will make Suzaku Knight of One when he becomes Emperor, and sends him to assassinate Charles.
-Schneizel's guards subdue Gino, who clearly feels that they are all traitors.
-Suzaku makes it and claims that the Emperor has sinned, blaming his use of Geass for the death of Euphemia and Lelouch and Nunnally's despair, claiming he will take them (apparently he still considers Lelouch a friend.)
-Bismark interferes, and Suzaku's live Geass forces him to run.
-Lelouch uses his Geass to cause mass amounts of confusion within the Britannian army, and has a group of influenced sutherland pilots escourt him to the ruins at Kaminejima.
-Suzaku falls along with a portion of the hill he's standing on during Lelouch's attack. Bismark boards Galahad.
-Kaguya is clearly emotionally unstable.
-Marianne, still in control of Anya's body, briefly fights Bismark, before seeing Lelouch and following him saying "should we save him?" to CC jokingly.
-Schneizel is meeting with Ougi, Diethard, Kaguya, Xing-ke, and Tianzi, but he declares that he has to go to kaminejima. Kaguya says that she's going as well to "confirm things", which is followed by Xing-ke's agreement.
-Lelouch enters the Sword of Akasha and the Ragnarok Connection is beginning. Charles says that nothing can harm him- be it guns, swords, or a geass. Lelouch smiles and activates explosives, destroying the Door of Twilight and sealing himself and Charles within the Sword, where he declares that they shall spend an eternal hell together.
-Note for Italian in the preview: apparently it means "Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here", and is supposedly the line from Dante's Inferno before he enters the final level of hell. I'd have to double check, but it's ~2AM and I'm too lazy to walk to my bookcase and grab my copy.A few pacing issues, but it was actually pretty good. I'm a bit mad about the memory loss cop-out, but Marianne actually controlling Anya's body with her Geass is more interesting than anything I had thought up. Although it does make me wonder who Anya was in the beginning.
That said, Marianne is a huge bitch. I mean, seriously, she FAKED her own death in front of her daughter, who was traumatized to the point of psychological blindness in addition to becoming paralyzed from the waste down. Additionally, she lets her son who she says she cares about be knocked around by her husband and think that she's dead. And on top of all of that, she basically invalidated Anya's entire existence as nothing more than a human puppet... Wow.
Predictions:
-Suzaku will receive Lancelot Albion next episode, and use it to kill Bismark.
-Marianne and CC will enter the World of C and everything about her death is revealed (well, we knew that already).
-CC will end up siding with Lelouch instead of Charles and Marianne, my guess would be that it happens after he calls her by her real name (which is somehow relevant?).
-Naturally, whatever the hell Charles is doing isn't actually "wrong", but Lelouch will have some reason to mess with him and stop it anyway.
-Orange's Anti-Geass will be the method Lelouch uses to destroy Marianne sometime towards the end. Anya's original identity will probably be important somehow, although I'm not certain whether or not she's his sister anymore.
-Xing-ke dies protecting Tianzi in the near future.
-I hate to say it, but Kaguya-end is actually possible. Although it depends entirely on how Kallen's plotline is addressed (if they even address it anymore, the easiest out Taniguchi has at the moment is to just kill her off and not spend any of the precious small amounts of remaining time he has. I wouldn't like that though).

What...The...F...Heck!!! 😲
I did not see that coming...okay, I had a feeling of Anya being Marianne, I even predicted the geass part; I even saw the Marianne planned her own death coming... But she's actually in league with Charles? And her attitude is like...like...Arghhh... That, I did not see... I thought she was a caring mother?
But here, I see where V.V. was so sensitive about...because he loved Marianne who loved Charles and also Charles trusted Marianne more than V.V.. We also got a look at which one Lelouch inherited the most genes from if you catch my drift...XD
Okay, for my predictions...Charles activates Ragnarok and will give Lelouch the title of Emperor after telling him the truth of Marianne since he achieved what he wanted. Makes it official to the world much to the shock of everyone...(Schiezel, Ashford, Black Knights, etc...)
This time it's Lelouch with the Britannian Empire and Knight of Rounds + Kallen vs. Schniezel and the Black KnightsI'll hold back on the immortality part as Lelouch has still yet to complete his geass and I'm undecided on whether he'll hate even more or forgive Charles and Marianne. Besides, if Lulu is mortal, at least this gives possibility for a romantic ending for either of the three girls...I know, I'm a sucker for those endings...
I'm also having a strange feeling that Charles is playing the same role as Itachi...
Hmmm, what else? Suzaku arrives and "kills" Charles though much to his surprise, can't be killed and makes a crazy Nina face j/k...
EDIT: That's how I see it. And note that these are from reading the spoilers from Crensh and other blogs, not from watching the actual ep...yet. I'll probably update after watching it though...but I got the general idea...

Yeah, already read about that...Crenshinibon just mentioned this in the post above. Anyway, makes you wonder what his original plan was doesn't it? And I don't get how a change in schedule affected the script...

It's basically the last minute change that affected the script. I'm sure it's been mentioned elsewhere, but changing a show from 1:30AM to 5PM changes the demographic completely, in addition to forcing you to make watching the first season unnecessary (since you're trying to attract a primetime following). It's sort of like what would happen if a manga that had been running in a monthly seinen magazine for a couple years suddenly was moved to shounen jump. The themes have to be dumbed down a bit, you have to become somewhat less risky, and there would have to be something to make the new readership understand the story.

Wow, cool episode, Loved Lulu's entrance lol
It seems like Kaguya and TainZi know that the Black order is lying about Zero's death since they want to go the the Island to check something

The Anya thing makes me sad
I liked her when we didn't know she was Marianne. "It's not okay?" "It's not okay." "It's not okay..."

You do realize that Anya isn't Marianne, right? Her original personality still exists, Marianne's geass just allows her to take control of her body/reside in it. I would be surprised if it lasted longer than next episode.
