Quote from Crenshinibon

You do realize that Anya isn't Marianne, right? Her original personality still exists, Marianne's geass just allows her to take control of her body/reside in it. I would be surprised if it lasted longer than next episode.

That soothes me. Hopefully it wears off.

L dies, and so does Kira.
Code Geass is going to end just as tragic.

Might be random, but did anyone else notice a drop in quality in the latest episodes, or is it just me? 'Specially Episode 18 looked very... bad, in my opinion. 😐 Episode 19 was better than average again, but Episode 20 was mediocre again, especially the beginning scene where you see Suzaka walking. I mean seriously, he looked like a different person.

I hope it's only because they're saving their resources or something for the last episodes of Code Geass: R2

Also, some random triva: Animators that did frames for Code Geass.. I like the 4th one the most.

I haven't heard anyone else complain about 18? I actually thought they did a pretty good job animating the new mechs (which was 90% of that episode) but maybe that's just me. 20, however, is definitely lower quality, and I've heard a lot of complaints about it. I vaguely remember someone mentioning that they moved the animation back to Japan (as opposed to outsourcing it to Korea as usual) but I don't know if that's actually what happened. Either way, I don't think sunrise has budget issues at the moment.

I think I like the first one the most. 4 is pretty good, but I'm not a fan of that CC shot.

EDIT: Behold! Another ultra-long post! Episode 21 Summary / Predictions.
NOTE: I may or may not update this later. This episode was a bit troublesome to translate for myself, so I'm not totally sure I got everything correct.

-Opens with Marianne trying to draw on an unconscious Suzaku's face -_-;;. She reveals her identity once he wakes up.
-Lelouch and Charles have a discussion on the nature of lies, and Lelouch demands to know about Marianne's murder.
-CC allows Marianne to enter the Sword, and talks to Suzaku, saying that they're similar in how they seek death. Anya is returned to her original state.
-Marianne shows herself before Lelouch and confirms that she's working with Charles.
-VV killed her because she caused Charles to change. Anya happened to be nearby at the time, having stayed there for a week.
-Charles' geass is the reason Nunnally was blind. (I think.)
-Ragnarok = Human Instrumentality, basically.
-The reason for everything is that Charles and VV were betrayed as children, and their entire family was assassinated. (totally called this back in 14)
-Suzaku and CC enter the Sword together.
-Bismarck informs Schneizel of Ragnarok.
-Anya wakes up, and has no idea WTF is going on.
-Charles uses a combination of his and CC's codes to activate the sword completely, revealing Jupiter which is a representation of the "gods" that "separate humanity" (?). Obviously it's something bad because "Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here" keeps flashing (the line is in Italian, and comes right before the final level of hell in Dante's Inferno).
-Lelouch says he's going to stop them and their selfishness because it isn't what Nunnally would have wanted, and Suzaku decides to help him.
-Charles says that Lelouch can't use his geass on either of them, so the battle is already over.
-Lelouch uses his geass on the gods themselves, evolving it to its final form and forcing the Sword of Akasha to obey his own reality as though he had a code himself.
-He uses it to make Charles and Marianne disappear, and CC watches them sadly, saying that in the end all they care about is their own happiness.
-1 month later, and the Emperor is still missing. Fanfare occurs, and Lelouch enters an assembly at the Britannian palace.
-He announces himself, much to Milly, Rivalz, and the Black Knight's shock, as the 99th Emperor of Britannia.
-His present siblings (all but Schneizel and Cornelia) tell him to stop joking, although they're very glad he's alive.
-He says that he killed Charles, and the guards charge at the throne.
-Suzaku drops from the ceiling and defeats the entire royal guard with an ultra-spinkick. Lelouch announces him as his personal Knight of the Round, the Knight of Zero.
-When those present further protest, he uses his geass on all of them, forcing them to become his minions. Note: Lelouch obtains at least 4 KoR in this manner, including Gino, Nonnette, Monika, and Bismark? (assuming Bismark doesn't have anti-geass powers).
-CC watches it all while wearing her original clothing, clearly unhappy about it.
-Schneizel acts as though this is all according to his plan, saying that the world will either kneel to Lelouch and his Geass, or to him (he's holding a white king! gasp it's not like we all totally saw that coming.)

Predictions:
-CC ends up saving Lelouch from his geass at some severe cost to herself.
-Suzaku and Lelouch work together until the end in order to create the type of world Nunnally and Euphemia actually wanted.
-Cornelia kills Nonnette.
-The Guren SEITEN is destroyed by Suzaku in battle, but Kallen doesn't die.
-The UFN sides with Schneizel, causing Lelouch to fight against the Black Knights and FLEIJA.
-Lelouch temporarily loses the throne in 24.
-Orange rejoins Lelouch.

Here's a quick breakdown of sides because I'm bored:

Lelouch:
-Suzaku (Lancelot Albion)
-KoR x4 including Bismark who has a Geass (or something formidable).
-A large portion of the Britannian military since all successors but Schneizel and Cornelia support him.
-CC (now reluctant.)

Schneizel:
-Cornelia (this is pretty massive, since it nets him the Glaston Knights as well.)
-Kannon (who's as useful as Diethard was)
-OOTBK (we all know it) and the remaining members of the Britannian military.
-Remaining KoR (Anya and Dorothea?)

Wild cards:
-Jeremiah
-Xing-ke + Tianzi
-Kaguya
-Kallen

Hah. It finally happened. I've been waiting for this point for so long.

Suzaku joining Lelouch. I knew it was going to come eventually.

one more thing though.......shame on Lelouch for leaving CC their, i'm kinda pissed at that.....and also i forget to mention just how gay Sneichzel is, but we all no that so it's all good.....and as far as predictions go, this is a wild one but..........i predict Suzaku and Lelouch will be working together, so look for that to happen

sorry......just came to brag about me being right

but seriously though, the fact that they make the unthinkable thinkable....made the unexpected expected, dont you think?.......but that part with the emperor and marriane was confusing to me, can someone explain to me what it was that they were trying to do......i couldn't follow it at all

they were basically trying to make the whole world into a collective conscious. sort of like uniting everyone into one being, even though they have separate bodies.

i.e. they almost completely copied human instrumentality from NGE. A bit disappointing, honestly.

It seems I erred earlier- Gino, Bismark, Nonette, and Monica were watching Lelouch's ascension from a television, so they didn't get hit by the acknowledgment command.

Did you mean the loli or the woman with silver hair?

The loli is Carinne, I think, and the woman is Guenhwyvar (or however they're choosing to spell it incorrectly). They both appeared in ep, 13 was it? The same time as Bismark was formally introduced.

EDIT: I decided that I was willing to open this can of worms, so here it goes. There are actually a variety of perspectives in which the consciousness meld is entirely justifiable, but the easiest argument and the one that the show actually presents is that it eliminates conflict entirely. The "gods" Charles has been talking about the whole time can effectively be reduced to the mentalities that produce the concept of individuality, and it would take ages to explain all the reasons why that creates conflict (you can basically track all sources of conflict back to it at some level.) If you want a really detailed explanation, you could probably just look on any site that attempts to explain human instrumentality in Evangelion, Geass just approaches it from the angle of lies instead.

that and it was pretty similar to that guy's idea in Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne. he had his plan was actually completely similar to what Charles and Marianne were planning.

Quote from Monstar Maalik

ight, i got it i think.....but i dont really understand why they would like that though, but whatever.....

their reasons were the royal family itself. Charles said that him and V.V were subject to countless assassination attempts as children, by their own family. so it sort of put the idea in their heads that the whole world is rotten. it got even worse for Charles when his very own brother killed his wife and lied about it. Marianne i think just wanted to live again, seeing as she was saying that even the dead could be reunited with the living, if they accomplished their goal.

More like like the contrary, the living would join the dead in order to become a single entity. Marianne's point of view might be explained through the point of view of a religion, seeing how they defined The World of C as a god or the collective consciousness of mankind, when people die their souls join all together in god, or something like that

But of course, as others already pointed out, just think this is Human Instrumentality version 1.01, and it's the same.

Idiotic plot twists return for round 8 billion! Behold, the TV weekly spoiler for episode 23 (translation stolen, since I'm too lazy to look for the magazine pic myself):

"Nunnally, who was thought to be dead, appears before Lelouch. Lelouch clashes with Schneizel, who is manipulating Nunnally, over the skies of Mt. Fuji".

...yeah. Even I'm depressed about this.

spoiler for thoughts, and another quote from the gum cards.

Not too happy about this, and it has sort of weird implications about what can actually happen.
-Is Sayoko captured? Even though she's a freaking ninja? I mean, Cornelia could escape from the Black Knights on her own, so why couldn't Sayoko? -_-;;.
-Nunnally's gum card probably has the most interesting quote (CC and Kallen's do nothing but pointlessly fuel shipping wars, although I do rather like CC's.) It's "I will be the one to take care of Onii-sama's karma" or something along those lines. I sincerely doubt that means Nunnally is planning to kill Lelouch, and since convention requires her to refer to Schneizel as aniue, it's clearly about Lelouch.
-Is Guilford alive?
-WTF does FLEIJA actually do anyway? The description that was given from Taniguchi and some VAs said it was basically an anti-matter bomb that atomized everything, so how the hell does a girl in wheel chair survive that?

Predictions:
-Orange uses his geass canceller on both Nunnally and Anya, allowing Nunnally to see (ugh), and having Anya remember Lelouch, which causes her to change sides.
-Something incredibly terrible happens to either Kallen or CC next episode, based on the preview Kallen is the likely target. This is because every episode of R2 so far has paralleled the corresponding episode of the previous season (sometimes counter-parlleled, admittedly), and next episode had Euphemia's command as the cliffhanger, iirc.

Most of the geass-related internet seems to be in rage mode at the moment, so I'll be avoiding it for a while, meaning there probably won't be much more new information this week.

I knew it. 😮

Of course, Nunnally isn't dead yet. She is a main character after all. And all the main characters that died 'till now,had a touching death scene, like Euphemia, Shirley and Rollo.

I hope Nunnally won't go Marianne-like all of the sudden, and stays her usual nice persona.
