I think, "Coolest" is not the same thing as "Most Badass"

I like Cloud from the FF7. The silent hero is so effective if done correctly, but it doesn't really work for me with this new generation of games where all the characters have voice overs.

Anyways, compared to Tidus from FFX who came off a little whiny, it makes me miss the old days of Final Fantasy. Though I did wind up like Tidus at the end.

This one Warlock I knew when I played WoW. I sat and watched her take on 8-9 people at once and come out with almost full health, repeatedly.

But I think for regular video games I'll give my vote the Sephiroth, his superiority complex on top of his badass sword skills just left me with a real lasting impression.

I'm going for Kratos because he is brutal towards his enemies. Dante is flashy when doing his kills, but Kratos is more badass in this department.
Examples:
Ripping wings off a gryphon in mid-flight.
Rip off a Medusa's/gorgon's head and use it as a tool.
Kicking Cerebrus puppies like soccer balls.
Rip out a cyclop's eye as a finishing blow.
And the enemies that Kratos has to face off against are on a much larger scale than those Dante has had to face.

Saaa, I think the coolest video game character in my recent memory is Mitsuru from Persona 3. The way she dressed, talked, carried herself, it just set up a general aura of cool.

It seems this thread somehow diverged into the most badass character though. My vote for that goes to Luca Blight from Suikoden II. I loved how he forced the innocent villagers to bow down and crawl on the ground then squeal like pigs before killing them. It also took forever to kill him, he put up one hell of a fight.

I personally like Iori from King of Fighters, but I don't play much games so I guess I can't really say anything. IMO, Iori is cooler since his moves are more vicious than Kyo's, and Iori is as creepy as Yamazaki. Even though I don't understand Japanese, what he says during/after moves sounds cool to me since I hear the words for "die" and "over/end."

Oh yeah, and I forgot Magus from Chrono Trigger. He had some cool magic and he was pretty strong. Seems like I like the "evil" characters more. I don't know, I guess it's because a happy main character doesn't impress me much unless he turns evil or cool for a bit (ie Abel from Trinity Blood).

What about Mario?
*He's a plumber. Not your typical superhero profession.
*He eats mushrooms to grow larger
*He runs around setting things on fire
*He destroys structures by simply punching them below
*He stomps, hammers, tail-whips, burns and does more to local plants and wildlife
*He moonlights as a doctor, tennis player, go-kart driver, polution cleaner, etc
*He's got multiple girlfriends: Pauline, Princess Peach, Princess Toadstool, Daisy
*His main rivals include Wario, Bowser, King Koopa, Donkey Kong, etc

The list goes on and on. No doubt he's pretty badass considering he's really just a portly plumber.

It's because you think Dante is cooler that you're blinding yourself to the fact that he may lose against someone else.

In all seriousness, Kratos would win over Dante. It'd be a tough fight, but he would be victorious. He has speedy attacks, too, by the way, including Typhon's Bane. Which is a long-range quick shot bow and arrow type attack.

Also, Kratos is in no way slow as you'd think. Even when in Rage of The Gods (or Titan's mode, whichever Kratos you prefer), his speed goes up as well.

Dante isn't slow, either. He'd have to resort to his Guns to stand a chance at taking Kratos. Even then, though, Kratos would run straight at him, and destroy his guns, forcing him to rely on his sword. And as soon as it becomes a close-range battle, Dante has lost.

Irregardless of all of this, I think the coolest character in video games are the Bouncer Big Daddies from BioShock.

They've got freakin' drills for hands! 😀

You do know it's ridiculous to compare two characters from different games? 🤣 But it can be fun though.

Coolest character would be Squall Leonheart.
Best villian is undoubtly Sephiroth. 😛
