I've heard him been called Gatts, Gattsu, Gutts, and Guttsu. What the hell is the proper translation for his name?

Gatts = Gutts, and Gattsu and Guttsu are just the Japanese way of saying Gutts or Gatts. I'm assuming.

Official english translation is Gutts, as in the anime, I beleive the original Japanese is Gattsu

Spanish translation left it as Gatsu, though I understand the meaning in English would be guts. But they put also other names like Kiasca or Schierke. Personally I like more calling him Gatsu, it sounds more like the name of a person than Guts.
