Now that it has ended, what are your thoughts?
On the ending,
on the characters,
on the manga as a whole.

It was certainly unique, so
what was your Punpun experience?

It made me look at my past. And to be honest about how shitty it was, and that there are many things that still bothers me and screws me over even now without being fully aware of it and making excuses that that's simply how "the world" really is. Hah...

I think a main theme (or the main theme) is that life goes on. This isn't something I drew just from the way time progresses is the book- rather, my theory on this theme stems from the connection between the cult organization and the death of Aiko; the cult predicts a sort of "death and rebirth of the world" on July 7th. And that's exactly what happens for Punpun's world. Punpun is lost when Aiko and his own God (the face with the afro who was no more than Punpun himself) die. Thus, he stabs himself in his face to try and kill himself (the death of the world); but rather than die, he is "reborn", or simply continues on in life despite the traumatic incident. So the main theme I found in the book is that, no matter the severity of tragic and unfortunate incidents that happen in your life, your life continues.
