why is the raikage a bone-headed dork?
i'm with naruto- if the world's going to end one way or another, why not fight? what's the point of being the only person left alive when your help could have saved everyone?
at least tsunade has her brain thinking...

I really - REALLY - hope someody dies because of Naruto's imprudence... the guy just do what he wants. I agree with the Raikage. Although he is too extreme he's at least being reasonable.

I wouldn't go as far as hoping Naruto gets somebody killed, but I agree with the sentiment: this manga validates Naruto's perspective WAY too much. Realistically, who could stop a war all by himself? Who could talk a psycho villain like Pain into making nice? Naruto, apparently, because Kishimoto says so. About the only thing Naruto has failed to do is bring Sasuke back, but it's only a matter of time before that happens, too. For the sake of character development, if nothing else, Naruto should be proven wrong on occasion.
I'm not saying Naruto shouldn't try to fight right now--that might actually be better than him hiding away like a sitting duck--but it would be nice if one of Naruto's rash, idealistic statements backfires on him sometime. It was a pretty big deal in Dragonball when Goku tried to let Freeza go, but then realized what a mistake that was because some people really are that evil.

Yeah, it'd give more depth to Naruto, because it would show him that being optimistic all of the time doesn't work. But what brid said about Kishimoto having Naruto always be right about things like this makes me think that Naruto will somehow save everyone (Or at least everyone that isn't a faceless solider).

Meh, Naruto won't get all that dramatic. I think it will stick to the Shounen feel. It'll be good if there's a twist somewhere though haha.
More flashback, but somehow I don't mind all that much. It's actually a pretty interesting one, if I have to say.

I like this chapter, and I like the fact that Naruto doesn't want anyone to die for him.
If he let the people he liked died just for that, then he'll not be a hero.
