Have you ever read a manga thinking that it will probably turn out really good, and by the time you finish reading the whole thing you find out that it was a huge waste of time? I started reading to-love-ru because the art is pretty good, and i liked the main character, but when it ended and it had absolutely no developments i was pretty pissed lol.

doesnt it say in the information summary for the manga that the author had to do a rush ending due to their personal affairs?
(But i too was a bit dissapointed at the ending 😛 )

I'm dissapointed Contently! To LOVE-Ru was one of my favorite's! but not everyone likes what I read so I guess I can't blame you 😀
One of the mangas I started reading was Special_A, I thought it would be good but it bored me so much and I couldn't be bothered reading until the end... I think I only got upto about chapter 5? somewhere around there.
It's probably a good manga I'm not disputing that, it just bored me is all.

Yea i tried Special A, and it kinda resembled the fancy school environment like Vampire Knight, with the nice uniforms and everything, but i lost interest in the plot idea and stopped reading lol >>

I'm actually quite surprised to finish Special A. It was hesitant great...but the unrealistic personality traits of Hikari drove me up the wall. There's a limit on how dense you are....but to be dense as a brick wall!? And the ending!! Argh! It disappointed me!! Can't the author end on a good note and let Hikari be first for once?! 99 chapters....and Kei is always first! And.....A playful punch after a proposal?! Wha? I even watched the anime! Grr....

And to answer the question. Yes!
I think it's mainly the summaries. Some of them are quite misleading. They sound great...and when I start reading it...it's not what I expect. It's not always, but sometimes.
I can't list any series that disappointed me at the top of my head. Check out my unfinished list. I think some disappointing series are in there...

Skip Beat. I feel like I wasted my cash on just the first volume. Tried stomaching and read the whole volume, and afterwards decided to avoid getting more volumes.
