I'm a user of the custom lists section, and I created a lot of custom lists. But the problem that occured is that you can't create a custom on hold list. The only options are unfinished, read, complete and Wish where we can chose from but option type On hold isn't available. This is really annoying, because I don't want to use the option type of unfinished for series I give a 10/10. I want them to be put in a custom On hold list, until their is a release of the series that didn't have a release in ages.
(It is also possible that it's a bug that we can't chose the type option On hold.)

You have to add the title onto reading list then change it to on hold. It won't give you the on hold option until it's on an actual list. 🙂 If that's what you're talking about.

Since he specifically mentioned that he'd like the on hold option for the custom lists and not "at all", I'm pretty sure he's aware of it already. Still, it doesn't help him one bit if he likes to sort out his series by some kind of criteria.

As for the suggestion itself, I don't really find this option all that necessary - I'm perfectly satisfied with using custom reading lists as on hold ones.
I mean, on hold list doesn't show you new releases anyway, so there's not much need for it, IMO.
As for the icon on the releases page, if you really want it to be different from the "reading" icon (no idea why), you could always use the custom wish list instead. (Your progress doesn't reset, it's just hidden.)

The problem is that when I'm searching for a series that I want to read with the search function I always end up on series that I put on hold (I use for my custom on hold lists the marking as read.) This is really annoying, if the on hold marking is their in place of the read marking I wouldn't be so confused. And using the On hold list, is also not an option because that list will become to long. And it will also lose the sorting info.

You will also start using custom lists when you've read a lot. I was in the beginning also happy with the standard lists, but if you have over 2000 entries then it starts to get difficult. Try to find something in a reading list or on hold list that count's over 1000 series. It takes hours to just find the series back that you want to read.

I see. Perhaps a better option would be the ability to exclude lists in the search (and not just a single one - multiple, since I'm guessing you have a few "on hold" lists already). We can currently search our lists, but not the other way around. Sadly.

And it will also lose the sorting info.

How so? Do you sort by priority? And if so, wouldn't moving the series between any of the lists (even custom reading and on hold ones) mess that up too?

Oh, I'm already using custom lists. Not all of them are public, though.
Besides, I don't plan on ever reaching 1000 read manga titles. I've bunch of other interests. Mostly reading actual books. And I don't mean LNs or WNs (though I did start with them recently).

Like I already said 3 quotes up - we can search our lists already. If only we could exclude them too ^^;

There is an option to exclude lists in the advanced genre search - it's labeled: "Only show manga not on any of my lists" in the list options section.

I don't know that it solves what deadphoenix is looking for, though.

Oh, there it was. I thought there used to be something like that, but I just couldn't see it yesterday ^^;

Still, I'd rather have the ability exclude only some instead of all of the lists.

No it doesn't solve a thing, because this option also exclude the wish lists. And this is causing problems, because half off the database is in my wish lists.

I still prefer an On hold option, so I can mark all the stuff that doesn't get any releases anymore. It's rather a burden to have them on my reading lists.
