Yes action is all I really need.

Yes and no. My issue generally isn't a problem with "no girls", it's the randomly enforced lack of opposite gender. Plus an all male lineup just forces a yaoi fanbase, which is irritating.
I have much the same problem with manga with absolutely no males.

I don't particularly mind not having a lot of female characters. However having ALL action and just guys duking it out the whole manga would be a bit dull. I'm a weirdo that likes action/fighting series but not for the action/fighting parts.
Seeing that I'm a straight female, lot of the time, I find that the females that are put in such manga are annoying, especially when their role is just to be the eye candy. Their character is typically given far less though than their male counterparts. If you take away such a character's good looks (and any role they may play for the 'harem'/gratuitous love interest) and they no longer are needed or wanted in the story, then the character is worthless and needs to leave. (well if its a minor character, I don't mind but no main characters please) Many chars achieve both eye candy and likeable character status, but sadly, not enough of them.
So bottom line, its better to leave a manga with no women than to add gratuitous fan-service characters just to fix the problem.

in the action shounen manga female characters are kind of a second thought. They are usually not of consequential importance at all (makes sense since shounen means "targeted to young male audience). So I doubt I would mind.

I'd rather have no females than crappily written ones who only exist for fanservice or as a love interest with no substance. Horribly written characters just bother me in general.

I don't mind, there are some good ones without any females like crows or worst.

love those, just focus on fighting with no romance. but i also like manga with fan service and gratuitous boobs - all that matter is the manga is good.

As long as the story is good and the characters are interesting then I'm all for it. I don't recall having ever read a long shounen/seinen without a girl in it though.
Remembrance, a forsaken thing that revokes ignorance and leaves people in doubt, is my only redemption and solace deep within the cascade of white.

I don't mind if it's gay, but the thought of an all male cast doesn't appeal to me. My ideal shounen would be no boys and ALL GIRLS. 😀

Yes, and I can name a few that got super popular even though girls really play no significant role.
Arguably, Prince of Tennis really has no focus on the girl or romance, and Eyeshield 21 barely had much on the girl. The girls are there, but they don't do anything to the plot and they don't influence the MC much... so I don't think it matters if they don't appear at all.
But on the other hand, if there's absolutely no girls I feel like the manga's direction could go towards shounen ai...
Oh and I might say, best shounen are the ones that don't have the annoying girls slowing them downnn -- subjective opinion at best.

I kind of think that too many girls make a manga quite typical . If the storyline is good I'm fine without them. Plus if there is friendship and cool teamwork sort of stuff I'm totally cool with only guys
maybe. The manga just has to be good and you can have male lead series with no women and no action on top. Yamikin Ushijima-kun, enough Yakuza tales, political series, medical ones or cooking manga count. Quality female publication with zero romance also exist...
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

Absolutely. All guys, all girls, equal ratio... As long as it's not harem or reverse harem, I don't care about the gender composition of the cast. And if the plot is nonsense, it doesn't matter if the manga has the hottest characters on the planet, I still won't read it.
And as for all those people who said "having no girls is unrealistic!" Well...I'd say it's more unrealistic when an unattractive, perverted, dirt-poor idiot finds himself surrounded by 5 or 6 extremely hot women who're all head-over-heels in love with him (or the same with genders reversed), but I don't see most of you complaining about that 😛

if i realize there're no girls whatsoever then it starts to feel unrealistic and sexist on the author's part, like skewed ratios are one thing, but absolutely no female characters in a long running series is pretty ridiculous
