As the title explains, a feature to import MyAnimeList's manga list to Mangaupdates. Not for me specifically but someone I know asked about it and I thought it was a interesting suggestion considering MAL has a huge userbase. Such a feature could make it more attractive for MAL users to switch over to Mangaupdates for their manga list needs since some people have over 200+ manga and adding them all manually, yeah.

That would be really nice. I was a user of MAL first and later I became a member of MU... I added my entire list manually and it was quite tiring, the biggest problem was the score, it's been more than a year I'm a member here and I gave up the idea of giving scores for +1000 mangas. It would be really nice to import the manga list and, maybe later, even the scores together.

Was the same for me, although I did not use MAL but just read manga then came to this site, I never even bothered to give scores and chapter count, is way to bothersome with the amount of mangas I have read and how extra bothersome it is to enter a rating for series in mangaupdates. Also the chapter you are up to feature is also kinda bad and the list icons are kinda limited, with pre existing lists not being that good.

The rating system of MU is really unattractive and hard to pay attention thus most of the time it is unreliable for judging the value of the series you are going to start with the MU rating system. (Lots of 10 points since only fans vote the series most of the time). And the option to import from popular sites like MAL may help for people looking to switch over to MU.

Well, an export and import function would be nice. Their are a lot of people that use both sites. I use the list on MAL for back-up purposes and for the stats they have. This is a function missing on MU. But MU, is much faster with adding new series. And most important, their is a release overview in MU, that MAL doesn't have. But after MU was some time offline I made the decision to make a back up on MAL. This took me more than a month. Every series I needed to put it in one by one, and that isn't easy because MU uses not the same titles for the same series. And it happens that the series on MU or MAL are missing. Making importing difficult.

All by all this is a nice suggestion, but late for me.

It'd be really nice if there was an Import feature from MAL to MU. I'm currently manually inputting all my manga that was on my MAL to MU since MAL doesn't seem to have ALL the manga/manhua/manhwa/webtoons that i've read but MU does so... it's getting very tiring after a while... and right now MAL has been down and just recently came back up but we can only go into our anime list and not our manga list so i can't even finish inputting my list TwT but we were able to get an export of our anime and manga lists..

Whenever I was setting up my account on this website, I was looking for an import feature so I could load all of my content from MAL into this website, but gave up and added them all in manually. This would be a really useful add-on.

On the My Lists page, there is an "Add Series" button and an "Add Bulk". Does that not work?

I mean it does, that's the 'manual' part i think we were talking about... it would have been nice if there was a feature that could import all of our manga from MAL in one go ;w;

Yikes, as a new user I came searching for an import feature. We really need one, because it's extremely impractical to import every single title manually by hand. I don't understand why we don't have this feature yet here. 😢

Great idea, though I don't use MAL's lists much. What I do use there is the Recommendations of similar works that always accompany every major work that has a page on MAL. They are much more transparent and usable than MUs recommendations, because there the recommenders routinely give reasons for each recommendation and state the similarities and differences between the source and recommended manga.

So more integration of the wonderfully comprehensive MU with the less-complete but more comfortable MAL can only be good!

Any official words on this yet? I'm really hoping not to have to manually input everything over to here lmao

I suppose, it is a big dream. Because we have a harsh reality that called "Database". MAL's and MU's database are so different by each other and it is really hard to sync. each other. 🙂
