Now we have a case in Europe too, fun. And a translator this time.
What's your opinion on this?

That's really unclear from the article.
Could be a official translator who downloaded raws privately as well. Could be a amateur translator who downloaded his material.

:/

The translator at the centre of the case was found guilty of possessing child pornography after downloading the offending manga images from the internet. He told the court that he had retrieved the 51 pictures in order to stay up to date with the latest developments in the Japanese comic genre.

Sounds like he's just some fan. Even if not, he did it privately, apparently.

Now, I'm no fan of loli H, but it's hard to say whether this guy will get convicted or not. First, it's Sweden, so their moral deliberations are less knee-jerk than that of Americans. Second, and more importantly, the law against CP was drafted to protect children - that is, children in CP are being exploited, so it aims to stop that exploitation. In the case of the manga, no children are being harmed or molested in any way.

So it really comes down to a freedom of speech argument... although one could still argue that the comics are demeaning and undermine children's rights. shrug

Loli H is about as realistic as NonLoli H, from a visual standpoint. Its a general visual representation of similar proportion, shape and size. I've seen Hentai where the character had the physical body of an adult, but was said to be a child. I've also seen Hentai where the character had a child-like body but was said to be an adult. Which would qualify as "Child porn"?

This is almost along the lines of arresting the developers or players of GTA for murder because theres killing in the game.

since when is loli manga considert child porn 😕 ?

thats actually news to me. i though the general stand to this is: painted and scribbled pictures are not real. (which is of course true)

and especially if he is a manga translator whats the point in accusing him? of course you would come into contact with this kind of stuff since japan is flooded with loli manga.
