Hey all!
We have just deployed a site update we've been working on for a while. It will provide a strong foundation for us to add new features going forward.
If you find any issues, please report them in our bug topic here.
Have a great day! 😀
Neat! It broke my dark theme and cover preview scripts, but that's a me problem. 🤣
I'm curious what's changed and what's to come. It's been many years since something this substantial has happened.

Thanks for the update!
Is there any changelog of the new update?

We transitioned from PHP for the frontend to React. It should make it much easier for us to add new features and keep up with industry. We also transitioned to using Markdown.
There aren't any new features as of yet. This was just a foundational change to put us in a better position.

Thanks! So now is it a good moment to add some new suggestions?
I hope we can get a search fuction, to give search results from year 2010 to 2024 for example. Is this now possible?
Even after dead, we raise from the ashes for the sake of manga.

Came here to say exactly this. I hate this new search function, the single search bar that let you actually search by author was way better. This new search page is too busy with way too many options, a bunch of them could be hidden under an advanced search option.

I wonder if there's a way to make it so that when you click on your username at the top of the page, you're not automatically sent to the Edit Profile page, but just to the Userpage that other people can see, like it used to?
-
Also, I think you can no longer vote for a title from your list, you have to go to the series' main page to either vote or change your rating, so it'd be cool if that was fixed, too.

I've been using Firefox's MangaUpdates searchbar extension to search for series titles, but with the site update, it no longer works.

removing the previous search-all function is like using google but having to go to different sub categories to search for people / animals / objects / etc. separately instead of with only 1 mouse click

it's impossible to go back to what i was previously searching for. Eg.: I'm currently visiting series page A. Then I want to search for series B, so I click "search" and type in B's title, then I click on the first result. I realise that's not what I'm looking for, so I click "back" in my browser. But guess what? Now I'm back at series page A, not the "search" page, and now I have no idea what I initially typed to try looking for B.

the same thing applies to adding past releases. Say, i want to add 15 releases of an inactive group, which means the date always needs to be stated exactly. Now, after i've added release 1, i want to go back to change only the date and chapter for release 2, bc the rest of the information is the same. Unfortunately, now when i click "back", all previous info is erased and i have to manually add the series' title, volume, chapter, group AND date all over and over and over again, which is even more insane now since you've also removed the autofill option from previous adds

this new "adding reply" box freaking sucks, full stop. The new immediate "preview" on the right does nothing new that the previous "preview" option didn't already do, and trying to write long posts with this new update freaking sucks balls, especially on mobile. 1 more mouse click to check the final post (ie. to "preview ") won't kill anyone, i promise. This new box on the other hand gave me murderous intents the whole time typing this post over and over again bc it kept getting messed up like you wouldn't believe
