in term of reading i'd prefer straight.
i don't mind reading shounen ai/shoujo ai (subtext/non sexual relationship) as long as the story is good.
i've tried reading a few yaoi, may be i got the wrong titles for a starter 🤣

I haven't read a lot of girlxgirl stuff, just a few mangas, two or three. It never really sparked my interest, for some reason. Maybe, its because I'm a female, or I just never found the right story for me, I don't really know.
Now yaoi, that's another matter for me. I've read a ton of it, with and without plots. Yeah, most of them are thoughtless sex filled stories, but there are some with really good stories to them, which is what got me hooked since a few years back. I do read the sex filled ones (what can I say? I love it.) but just as much as I read stories with plots.

Generally, straight manga has the better story over yaoi, but I've found quite a few of them to be all so simple, and childish, and the art work all the same. It bores me, I guess. The same can be said for yaoi, too. But, for me yaoi is the best, you just need to find the right story.

They are adorable and sweet. Yuri is the only kid of romantic manga, I can read, without suffering constant facepalms. As I can't even read Shoujo manga, reading Yaoi is out of the question...
