I'm not sure what to think about that...

i can see why there might be a problem...but...wtf?

they are all underage..., and it was consensual...

I might sound like a jerk, but I gotta ask... why does it matter? Girls who don't even value themselves enough to conceal themselves. Additionally, there's more important events in the world, and yet people care so much over something like this? O.o If the boys couldn't contain their hormones that badly, that's what the internet is for... 😀

That's a little too much. I mean i go to high school and there are a lot of girls who take pics like that and give it to others. I mean its harder to find a phone w/o a nude shot of their girl friends/friends/acquintances. If it was a 40 yo creeper looking at 10 yr olds i would understand but i mean both parties were basically the same age so who cares if they're underage. This is just another example of taking a law that was meant for one thing and using it for someone else. Stupid law makers w/ too much time on their f-ing hands. >:-(

Also, just wondering. Even if school officials confiscated the phone, is it legal for them to have looked through it. Isnt that invasion of privacy or something. I know a lot of our freedoms are completely ignored while we're in school but this too!!!??

i just think the students are idiots doing shallow things, because they're overly conscious about unimportant matters like looks. and that's what got them into a stupid mess like this. just a bunch of unconfident immature kids.

it pisses me off to see people my age making fools of themselves like this, which is why we are looked down upon as a group by many teachers and adults.
stuff like this happens at my school too and a lot of us don't involve ourselves with that stuff, but when it gets out to the public it gives everyone a bad reputation.

This reminds me, you can have sex before you can videotape yourself. There is nothing wrong (in the law's eyes) with the kids getting together and going at it like jack rabbits; but when they send pictures it's child porn? 😕

Yeah I can see how this might have caused a problem mainly with parents or so, but if both parties agreed then there's not much to be done. I'm pretty sure even middle schoolers are doing this nowadays and they are only 13 years old now that's a different story, that's where authorities should take real precaution.

Law is not pure common sense.
Slavish obeying of the law causes stuff like this to happen,
but I believe they'll do something about this in the
future.

That kind of thing is pretty common around here...I would think every high school would have had at least about 5 or so video scandals...a hell of a lot more in colleges/universities.

The stupidity of it all. Why allow themselves to get videoed when they're just going to complain, cry and regret about it later when it gets out...and it most likely WILL get out.

That's ridiculous. If a girl takes a nude photo of herself and sends it to a lad, without being pressured into doing so then what's the problem. Personally I would never have dreamt of doing something like this at 15 but some girls just don't have starndards. I'm sure there are better things for police to be doing than wasting time prosecuting sluts.

It reminds me of a story our community support officer told me once. She was on duty in town when all the clubs were closing and this drunken guy slapped the bum of a girl because she was wearing a very revealing outfit and he thought she looked hot. The girl complained and the police couldn't exactly ignore it. Because the complain was 'He slapped my bum' rather than just 'he slapped me' they had to take it as sexual assult and the lad, not thinking much of it, was all 'yeah, I was drunk and it was stupid but I did it'. He ended up charged with sexual assault despite police efforts to get the girl to change her complaint so they could charge him for drunk and disorderly instead. He was a medical student and is now on the sex offenders register next to peodophiles and rapists. His entire career is ruined before it started. It's ridiculous. Lads slap me all the time on a night out when I just wear jeans, if you're going to dress like a prostitute you can't complain when people take liberties really but the whole thing was stupid. A sex offender for getting drunk one night and trying it on with a girl? Madness.

hmmm...I don't know. seriously, these kids... 🤨 well, it is true that what they have done is stupid but I think their parents and teachers are more stupid and ignorant and they are the ones who should take responsibility in the first place. when they let their kids have sex at such young age, then they have no right to complain about why these kids have taken some nude pictures here and there.

As stupid as that is, I think they can. I remember one girl getting her phone taken away and the teachers looked through all of her texts and photos. It's horrible and an extreme invasion of privacy and it's one thing that I hate about schools. It should be illegal for them to do it...

As for the article, they both consented to it...so what's the problem? o_o

The biggest thing that bugs me about this whole thing is if convicted they end up registered as sex offenders, did they do something stupid, yep but in no way should they end up with that stigma, its something that could ruin their lives. I personaly think that something like this should be handled by their parents, not a court.
