Anyone listen to these two genres? I've only heard a few bands from these genres (Air, Burial), but I love what I've heard so far. I keep telling myself to find more but I never got around to it 😔

Anyway I'm playing the same few bands over and over again right now and I need more.

Not a big fan of Air.... they're not dubstep, but more downtempo, ambient sounding.... you can try artists like Plaid or Ulrich Schnauss......or maybe Goldfrapp, Portishead and Massive Attack if you prefer slightly trippier stuff with vocals.... I'm just providing some big names here so let me know if you prefer more underground sounding stuff.

As for artists similar to Burial.... some of the better ones are 2562, Sub Swara, Meat Beat Manifesto, Sam Shackleton, Laurie Osborne (Appleblim), .... as well as DJ Mixes from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbes or Freq Nasty.

Oh yeah, and I meant Electronica OR dubstep; I'm aware that Air isn't dubstep but I thought they were electronica? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Nightswan - You should try listening to more of it. I disliked both too, but now I'm enjoying them far more than the new stuff that's coming out in the other genres I listen to.

Hmm, I think I've heard of them before. Didn't they have a track on The Animatrix soundtrack?
Also, Plaid, Portishead and Massive Attack are brilliant. I've only recently discovered my passion for electronica music, mostly electronica mixed with other genres.Some good varied stuff to listen to; Boards of Canda, Fennesz, Future Sound of London, Four Tet, Holy Fuck, Ken Ishii, Lullatone, Masafumi Takada, Susumu Hirasawa, Tortoise.

Burial is good, but I find it difficult to enjoy most of other dubstep music. Burial is easy to recommend to all electronic music lovers imo.

Don't waste your time or time will waste you.

BTW,

With regards to electronica, I just recommended those with a similar down-tempo feel to Air.

Electronica by itself consists of various sub-genres like Minimal, Breaks, House, Progressive, Jazzstep, Liquid Funk, Dub Techno., Industrial...etc. Some of these were already mentioned by Highway-Star.

Just ask if you want recommendations from other sub-genres of electronic/club music.

Huh.... not too familiar with Dubstep. Aren't Portishead and Massive Attack part of the Trip-hop genre? If they are considered Dubstep then I suppose I listen to it.

Downloaded the album and I'm listening to it right now.

Aphex Twin is my favorite electronic musician
Burial is great, but I haven't looked into a lot of other dubstep...

Holy tapdancing Christ, that file is huge! I tried d/ling it on Sendspace, didn't work.

Aphex, Boards of Canada, Squarepusher, Telefon Tel Aviv, Burial, MSTRKRFT, Prefuse 73, Dntel and also Daft Punk, Blockhead, Chromeo, RJD2 and of course Portishead
